Comic for Thursday, May 24th, 2018
May24
On the downside, I’ve run out of my buffer again… on the plus side, I am pretty sure I have monday off. I just realized that today though, so now the race begins to if I actually have an extra day to works on the things I am behind on that are already scheduled (like the comic) or if I manage to fill with with new stuff.
We have been on this night for quite awhile now…. still got a few more people to check in with though. Things will move along though, never fear.
For those of you wondering, here is a link to the beginning of Aaron barging into Sophie’s office.

Also, two pages later just after he leaves in the last panel, is where Sophie gives Atter the order and directions on how to “get rid of” Aaron.

Aaron has no shown physical contact with Atter, or anyone else for that matter, during the entire event. Though he does stop and seem to let his guard down a bit afterwards during a conversation with “Rick” (a character so minor as to not even have an entry on the character’s page, not even the background characters).

Perhaps Atter is capable of using Elipsis and disguised himself to get close to Aaron? Or perhaps Atter didn’t place anything on him at that time but only later? Considering his orders, to cause failing health for Aaron so that he would retire, and, considering the lack of failing health that Aaron seems to have up to this point in the story, there is a real possibility that Atter only got a hold of Aaron recently (when Nathan showed up) and that his health will only now start to decline.
Maybe I’m just bad at reading between lines but this actually looks like the least said in a page with Arron on it in a while….
(Still, though. I wasn’t sure if Mium was just being unhelpful while being helpful, but Tom’s suggestion is also physical removal…)
Also….Nathan gets two panels this page and I think he’s got the best lines on it.
(And that’s with this being the second time a Kepler has apparently forgotten that “most people” tend to sleep at night on panel. Heh…)
The way I see it, this is a set up page. Probably for like a year from now something on this page will be seem super important. Beats me what that would be.
I will say Tom’s accent is infectious. I have to actively work from keeping my comment from being typed in Tom’s speech pattern.
Panel one: Setup for Tom having a reputation as some sort of super-observant badass, though he’s already been suggested to either be far more capable than he lets on, or entrusted with providing assistance that he couldn’t possibly manage to provide. This could just be continued confirmation of the sort of character he’s supposed to be.
Panel two: Indication that Peter’s nocturnal behaviors may be hereditary. Suggestion of Nathan either having some kind of unrelated medical issue made worse by overwork, or just being really overworked. He’s been tagged a hero of another story. Is that other story about to encroach on this one as well? That is, more than it already has?
Panel three: The assertion that Atter has had a bit o magic in Aaron’s arm for weeks could easily turn out to be huge.
Panel four: The suggestion that Tom feels Atter infection merits amputation has more potential than I care to even mention. Also, something about Tom’s crowbar seems subtly off. It could just be a style of crowbar. Or it could be a hint of the massive crap that Tom’s had to deal with.
Panel five: Furthers the suggestion from panel two that Nathan could be near his limits regarding his own story and might need assistance.
Panel six: Arron pretty much explicitly states he’s going to try to convince Nathan to bring more of his story into this one, or maybe just be more open about how much of Peter’s story he’s trying to handle himself.
Panel seven: I don’t think I need to even comment on how much this panel is dripping with potential for future importance.
Panel eight: Nathan wears his necklace to bed, *or* feels it’s more important to don before answering the door than a shirt. Either possibility could be quite significant. People try to assassinate Nathan regularly also. Nathan has a phone.
Panel nine: Nathan lives with Ashley, who probably also has a phone. But Nathan seems to not be completely certain. Is Ashley just prone to losing her phone, or does this hint at some distance in their relationship? Nathan’s front door is in a hallway, so he and Ashley don’t live in a house which is entirely theirs. This is, of course, consistent with panel seven. This introduces the possibility of Nathan having neighbors who can easily overhear their discussion and issues with the landlord, especially if Nathan’s home ever explodes. (I mean, he knows Peter, so it’s possible.)
Since PastUtopia always surprises us, it’s at least nothing hinted by any of the above. So that’s not quite “no idea.” 😉
I think it was either just Ashley’s place, or an IDS Safehouse that Ashley just “lives in”, not necessarily that they normally live in the same place. More that he’s staying there while he’s in Malsa (for the foreseeable future at least).
The thing is that almost all of this has been suggested elsewhere. The only things that don’t feel like complete repeats are just how overworked Nathan is right now (panel 2), and Arron’s view of what everyone is doing (panel 6). I guess this page might be nice for those people who haven’t been paying super close attention, though.
I think your issue with Tom’s crowbar is that it bends past 90 degrees on one end. You don’t see crowbars like that because they stop serving as a lever (the entire point) well before that angle.
To be fair to aaron, he did just find out he has been infected by what coule be called a demon and is definately a MAGNIFICENT bastard and may need his arm lopped off. A bit of impantience may be warranted.
So, next update, we get to see Nathan cutting off an arm, and Aaron asking Peter if he knows anyone (Rovak?) who’s good at regenerating other people’s limbs?
I mean, Nathan can probably do it all. He has the fanciest stick and everything. But he’s tired…
second panel second speech bubble, “and i think yer showin’ up here here” need to drop the extra here.
@PastUtopia this is a thing, hidden in the line wrap. The first is the better removal candidate.
Panel 1: “what’s he so busy with that he needs you to play guard dog?”
Fixed, thanks 🙂
Panel 9, “Going to be be honest,” one too many “be”
Fixed, thanks 🙂
