Comic for Wednesday, December 30th
We’ve seen a little bit here and there that Naomi knows many of the Levenworth students already (though, notably, not Tyler as he came the year she left), though I don’t think it’s been all much in the forefront. It probably explains why she typically wants Peter to play nice with them.
I’d like to point out in my defense (as someone that has been accused of having way-too-many-character-itis) technically only one of these characters is a new character; though we hadn’t seen Lisa’s name before we did see her pretty early on. We’ll probably see more about these new characters and how Naomi knows such things about them in time.
Pages will definitely be a little on the later side for a bit still (sorry Patreon people!). We are still babying the wrist in the hopes that it goes back to normal-wrist-functionality. It’s not too bad right now but don’t want to push it.
I look forward to meeting Naomi’s friends! I always like that there is more depth to everything. Naomi’s friends all have their own stories it seems. ^^
Is that Ila in the background? She looks cute! Her hair is blonde!?
Well, the endless depth is sometimes a double edged sword; there are several approaches to story telling, but I’ve always been in the ‘worldbuiling/complete’ path rather then ‘story-driven/do-what-need-path’; for me its more about how the characters would react to the plot, which means I need fairly complete characters even for minor roles… if all that makes any sense!
We’ll just have to see on those last questions… 😉
Naomi shows her intelligence and observation skills and that she is someone who should be underestimated only at ones own peril even if even she isn’t sure of her full capabilities.
She despite what both she and Peter tend to imply, she’s fairly bright… if not always on the what-to-say or long-term-planning fronts.
Perhaps in part it’s how natural her institutional intelligence or perception are to her that she tends to underestimate them as more normal.
Naomi claims that clothes shopping is beyond her? This really is a world apart from Earth. Naomi may be a bit odd, in any universe. But I thought most women were skilled and/or experienced with clothes shopping.
Like any “truism”, women’s shopping fixation isn’t all that true. What is true is that, while a lot of women shop, not all of them enjoy it much, and some of them hate it. I can see Naomi being less interested in shopping when there’s smiting to be done. 🙂
Haha – I suppose. Naomi does have some hobbies beyond smiting, and we’ll even see another one of them soon(ish) 😉
I won’t rule out the possibility of Naomi thinking dressing prototypes up would be fun (or funny), but she has a dubious understanding of fashion (we’ve basically only seen her wearing variants of the same thing outside of the school uniform), especially when it comes to shopping for a ‘kid’.
She probably understands shopping for other things better then clothes, but in general she’s more on the ‘doing’ end of the spectrum then the ‘having’ end of the spectrum in her hobbies.
Plus, I think we are seeing here at least two of those people enjoy-shopping-types… specialization of labor and all 😛
