Comic for Monday, October 10th
The answer is no, she has not learned to fly yet. It is one of her reoccurring sore spots. She would like to fly. I mean, we’ve seen that she and gravity have a bit of a loose relationship at times, but flying is hard.
The hole in the wall is not as big as it looks. Most of that hole was where the window used to be, and while I am not an engineer (of that kind) I imagine the whole window would sort of come out in our use case here. Whileย she apparently slightly missed the window, it seems she got at least some of it. Mium had slightly more subtle building entrance technique, I have to say. I guess people will have to start installing balconies with open doors to reduce hole-in-the-side-of-their-build-epidemic.
Make sure to check out the voting incentive soon, as it’ll be updated tomorrow (current Naomi – Nora costume, next (and already done!) Magnolia ballgown). Feel free to toss more suggestions in the ring as I am about halfway through them now. Don’t worry, I will put up a compiled version of them all on Halloween.
Really appreciate the level of support we’ve been getting. It it’s been great to see the comment count climb past 30 a few times now (even if a lot of those are me!) and it always makes me glad to see people enjoying/discussing the comic. It’s great to have the feedback and enthusiasm – having the readers along for the ride has made this definitely a better journey so far, so thank you all.
You scared me when the site went 404 all day! What happened?! /o.o\
I sort of maybe forgot to pay my hosting bill.*
*My hosting is a lump sum paid in January, my various domains are at random intervals through the year, but should be “free” with my hosting. Apparently my payment info needs to be up to date though or it cannot renew the “free” domain names. So for about 8 hours the domain http://www.pastutopia.com lapsed.
STOP. MAKING. YOUR DIALOGUE. SO. DAMNED. AWESOME.
Wait. What the hell am I saying…?
Please, continue. This was awesome. Glorious. Especially panels 3 and 5.
(Because why wouldn’t you fall through the wall of an office on the sixth floor…..)
Is learning to fly common, or does she just bore that easily? (Or was she just trying to mess with their heads, likely in spectacular fashion….is learning to fly even practical/possible??? NAOMI PLEASE TELL US ABOUT THIS WONDROUS MADNESS)
Naomi would really like to be able to fly, and has less fear of high speed collisions with the ground than any sane person.
For most mages, it is quite dangerous, as it combines complex calculations, high speed adaption, and high chance of being splattered.
Taking additional costume requests? Then I’ll throw in the one I was sure someone else would come up with: Miko dressed as a miko with a tiny Mium sitting on her shoulder.
’tis added to the list. Will update reply here when it’s up (and they’ll be posted on Halloween).
Hehe! Wow! This must be the proverbial cherry on top for Arron’s crap Sundae of a day (and week). On the plus side, though, he now has more vital information. Though, he may still be undecided on whether or not Peter promising to get him the lost Bridgepoint data is a good thing.
I suppose it is going to be difficult for an organization with “Security” right in the name to explain why someone smashed a hole in the side of their building without losing credibility.
I do not think this casts doubt on Taki’s identity though. Naomi has probably just never heard that name. Peter is using his real name for reasons still unknown, but likely with the intention of being found. Taki is not in the same boat, so would not be using her real name.
Blame Kor’s World. Or a lab accident.
Depending on what, if anything, witnesses/cameras not under IDS control saw.
A large purple gorilla on the loose. The Miko would corroborate that story… ๐
As an engineer I’ll give you the answer on the window, namely it really depends on what transparent material they used for the window. Regular glass would have left a bigger than Naomi hole, but not completely come out. Safety glass would have left a mess on the floor.
Also now I’m really wondering about Taki.
I sort of figured glass for tall building windows would be more plateglass (<- I am only assuming this is a thing, like glass, but less breaky) like. But this is what happens when a philosophy major designs buildings. Let's face it, I just prefer to imagine it that way so 6th story windows don't scare me ๐
Just say “fictional glass engineered to stop bullets that happened to be slightly stronger than the window frame” and be done with it.
Haha, well, that’s the eternal plan B. That said, in the case where people actually know things, I always love hearing about them for next time.
While I play a little fast and loose with the details sometimes, it’s nice to add elements of things-working-like-they should where I can ๐
You did! You did! You put a whole in the wall that went unnoticed! I think I like your sense of humor. I now ask why they didn’t flip out when she said she “fell” through the wall?! Is it just to be expected?! Do they even have insurance for that?!
Well, unnoticed by anyone inside the building. Guess they’ll have to get their building security updates from the local news…
Called it.
Indeed ๐
*Sigh* Naomi, that’s what happens when you forget to allow for crosswind when jumping at full speed. ><
Arron should claim that the damage was caused by a bird hitting the window–a really BIG bird. ^^
I kind of hope that Naomi tells Peter that Arron asked about someone named “Taki”. Perhaps Peter will take the time to set Arron’s mind at ease. Although, now that I think of it, maybe Peter’s answer would just worry Arron more……
It is raining out there, probably reduced visibility. Maybe minor slip on launch. Least she got the right office.
This makes me wonder if the whole “multiple world thing” is known to the average citizen. They clearly know about magic (it is in their sports) but do they know about dimensions? It seems clear that the IDS discovered this world (as they have a nominal lock on the tech) not the other way around.
Either way they probably have a lot practice in ridiculous excuse making for the odd details that slip through.
Ever play angry birds? Aiming is tricky. Double tricky in this case because the goal was to NOT take down the whole structure…
let me put it this way: *laughing* it’s so funny. you did an amazing job.
Thanks! ๐
