Comic for Wednesday, March 25th
Note that there was bonus page yesterday! Hit back too see if you only check by on update days! š
See, in the previous panels I wasn’t just being lazy only drawing two of the people in armor, there was indeed a third keeping an eye on things from a distance. Seems like it may not have done him much good… got to be careful making yourself an isolated target.
Perspectives were a challenge on this one. I’m fairly certain the last panel looks vaguely ridiculous, but ah well. I actually redrew it once, so its better than it could be. I do understand perspective to an extent, but its a little hard to put into practice with things that are not box-shaped sometimes š
Remember that there is currently a Patreon bonus – for each new backer ($1 a month or more), I’ll do bonus update page (4 possible bonus pages remaining, pages will update the first day that would not have otherwise had a comic!).
The only thing I see is that the sniper’s torso in Panel 4 is just a little too long, making him look about two and a half meters tall. Do you have any kind of poseable figure model? That might be helpful?
Everything else looks pretty good, except the chain, which is WONDERFUL. It’s the best magical effect yet. š
Hey, in the vote incentive, did Mium’s reply get cut off? It doesn’t seem complete.
Ah, heh, yeah his dialog did get cut. There must be a character limit it doesn’t tell you about, never really tried to put more than a sentence in there before. Anyway, it’s just random stuff I typed, but the exchange is:
Naomi: Come on! You should totally join the fanservice crew, we get to go to all the cool places, like this beach!
Mium: I’m pretty sure this isn’t actually happening.
I actually do have a small poseable model I got a long time ago, but its on a little stand and less flexible than would be useful here. I think I did need some sort of reference though; I get how perspective works, but applying it to humans is hard – they have all these sticky-outy parts like legs and arms š I’ll get better – but even what little practice I have drawing humans is pretty much all stiff standing/faces – learning to draw action/movement/angles is a big step for me but I’ll try š
Coming up I don’t think it’s spoilers to say that we’ll be seeing more magic effects coming up soon; I’ll see what I can do! I’m trying to not rely on “glowy-hand-syndrome” too much because I like to think that my characters are more creative than that with what they’d do within the rules of magic of this setting, and that I’m letting them down being a lazy/bad artist š
I’d rather experiment and try to make them cooler than play it safe; we’ll see how it goes! That said… glowy-hand-syndrome will inevitably crop up here and there, but I’ll try to keep it varied.
What I liked about the chain was the way you drew the links and the sinuousness of it. I guess it would have to glow or something to differentiate it from a physical chain, but that wasn’t what caught my eye.
On a side note I realize that means you voted for me on TWC! Yay! Thanks š
It looks like we are under 300 again! That’s pretty exciting! Thank you to everyone that’s voted for the comic! To celebrate I’ll try to get a new vote incentive out by the end of the week, any suggestions are welcome!
Heh, I’ve been voting since before I first commented. š
