Comic for Monday, December 14th
Well, at least he’s thorough in digging holes. Nice clean shoveling, no hesitation. I suppose we are on the fast track to a better understand on how Peter and Naomi work together… one way or another? π
I guess at this point there is going to have to be some filling in the blanks on what happened between buried in rubble -> back at the house somewhat filthy, annoyed, and worried about her newest (not currently active) adopted prototype… π
And I do promise eventually we’ll see more why Ila has these pesky problems like not springing back to life, needing to breath, and not being generally omniscient of her surroundings when compared to her ‘sibling’… π Of course… the scales are not entirely imbalanced… π
As I mentioned previously (I think…) I’ve been redrawing the starting comics for fun – I’ve decided to mirror the redrawn comics on ComicFuryΒ in a version that’ll be updated as the new pagesΒ are done; figured it was a good excuse to mirror over there for the sake of some people that prefer that reading location, as well as give people who couldn’t quite make it through those early days a chance to have a reading club to read along with as the new version is posted π Additionally the pages will come with new commentary and comments (since they I didn’t do much of that back then).
They are of course added to the archive here as a well in place of the originals.
I mentioned there will be a new vote incentive this weekend sort of got sidetracked, but it’ll go up tonight some point. I’ll edit this to claim it was always there when I put it up! π which is here and was always here and definitely not edited into the post!
Character page is being updated as well; currently it features new art for a handful of the characters, and will probably march onward with a few more tonight. Any characters missing that need to be there? Let me know and I’ll make sure they are caught in the newest sweep! Wednesday’s page will go up Patreon tonight as well, and I will probably start a Lore page and a World page this coming week (I’ll have to replace that Patreon reward I guess! :P).
The ‘World’ Page will have regional geography and a ‘cast’ page of the countries and organizations (without spoilers), the ‘Lore’ page will contain historical events of the world and more information about the setting. Both of these are probably going to be primarily text, and certainly not required reading, but maybe interesting to people that prefer more intricate detail and reference than the comic can provide πΒ There is a (very soon) upcoming arc that, by it’s nature, will probably serve as far more in-depth primer on how much of magic actually works coming up as well.
…these little news & ramble pages get a little wordy don’t they? Anyway, thanks for sticking through and reading! (even those cheaters that just skipped to the last line!)
Naomi is much more perceptive than Peter is giving her credit for. π
For his part, he took the easy road in an effort to avoid having to deal with Naomi constantly begging him to revive Ila. You can almost hear the resignation in his voice as he admits that he doesn’t WANT to wake her up, yet.
It’s not a good place for him to be. There are hugs to be given, and he’s standing in the way. ^^
Naomi’s expression in Panel 2 is a new style for you, and I think it works really well. It’s exciting to see you trying new things art
-wise. π
I think we’ve seen this before where as soon as Peter get’s distracted from his role as puppet master he gives a careless reply to something; he’s still just not good at people in general.
He seems to have trouble grasping that things that he doesn’t care much about, other people care a lot about; while this is obviously an example, his entire interactions with Tyler are him failing to grasp exactly how seriously Tyler takes his job.
I think Peter has a experience playing bad cop, but will Naomi stand for it? We shall see…
It’s been a long term goal to make more flexible faces with more expression; progress on it has been hit or miss, but I think I’m still getting a little better here and there… but’s slowed down by drawing Mium (very little expression), Kally (stuck on one expression), and Peter (typically not highly expressive)… means Naomi is pretty much always the test subject π
