Comic for Friday, August 27th
Why is it that I trust Mium when he says his not a rogue AI about as much as I trust Iki when he says he’s not a villain? I dunno. Anytime people feel compelled to state things like that I get suspicious, but I’m just sort of suspicious in general. It’s all about semantics and points of view I suppose… ๐
I suppose the question is do we believe Ila when she claims she won’t be tricked? ๐
… This chapter will take a bit longer to wrap up than I thought. But its coming to an end! … Of course I realize that never actually did update the chapter tag to chapter 4, sooo…. but still, almost to chapter 5! ๐
This weekend I will be repairing the comic buffer; Monday’s page will go up on Patreonย tomorrowย and next week should be complete by the end of the weekend – I’m sorry for slipping behind on getting them up there early (for quite awhile now) but we’ll get back ahead of the game.
Pointless rambling below.
Lots of deciding what I want to do with my time in the near future. I’d expect the comic will march on (though I may – and this is still in the early consideration stages) pull back on the update schedule; currently it’s effectively 4-6 pages a week (since most updates are 2 vertical pages of panels). My art is simple and I draw pretty fast, so it’s not an overwhelming drain, but I can’t keep up the “do a little bit of everything” approach I’m doing now forever; to do anything really interesting I need to better/more qualified at it (whatever it is) than I am now.
So, more like, no such thing as an AI that’s not rogue. (Some just don’t know it yet.)
The Colonel plans on creating a rogue AI in a few years. Probably nor ambulatory tho.
“Houston, we have a problem…” At the risk of making Naomi furious, nothing in her directives to Mium prevent him from giving Ila to I.D.S. agents. Her exact words were, “Mium you can’t just leave her with Avon.” (see HERE in panel 3), and “…We are not going to let them have her…” (see HERE in panel 4).
She meant for Mium to rescue Ila, but nothing in those directives forces him to “bring her home” to Naomi. It all depends on how he interprets what “completing” them means. ^^
I know it’s really hard for you to stop drawing, but I, personally, would rather have three single page updates than two double page ones, even though the latter would give more content. Unless the posting itself is a time consuming hassle, of course. ๐
Do what you have to, that’s just my two cents worth. ^^
Mium is definitely capable of reaching a very wide range of outcomes from almost any given set up of instructions; thus the risk of creative AI…
It mostly depends on how much Miko is correct about Mium using that creativity to err in Naomi’s favor.
Any changes to how I handle updates is some ways off still, and how it goes down remains be seen. I don’t really need to free up the time yet; but I do need to consider if this if it’s time to rebalance the scheduling department sooner or later; it’s sort of like my version of the annual budget – got to dole out time to different projects.
Recently I’ve been giving a lot of thought to not just doing my usual (total projects) / (total time) = (time per project) solution, as it’s been hard to argue that’s working well ๐ which means they will be winners and losers in the time allocated categories, but I don’t know what they are yet.
He called Mir M.I.R but he calls Ila Ila… I’m not sure which of them he’s insulting here… ^^
Peter seems to trust Mium a fair bit from what we’ve seen. I’m starting to wonder if he should. Of course, we don’t know his relation to Mium really yet.
Probably both of them; though from Mium point of view it may simple make sense that way, who knows.
Peter knows Mium pretty well ๐
