Comic for Friday, April 12th, 2019
Apr13
Well… sorry chaps. Was a bit later than I reckoned even trying to go quick with the art. As you may have gathered from the mini rant last time, work’s been a problem again. Things may change there early next month, not going to say too much yet.
The art is a tad rushed, and admittedly I think I probably was slightly too ambitious with what I could fit into half a page, particularly given that I didn’t want to skip Peter’s panels, despite their obvious apparent skippability.
Anyway, Monday should be fine, but I’ll keep you posted. Hopefully next week is better, and I’ll keep you’ll up to date on the long term plane as we get to the long term.
Page’ll be up tomorrow… probably going to have to skip Thursday do rebuild buffer, because I know all the late comics are getting a little ridiculous again, just didn’t end up having time to get back ahead this weekend.
Appreciate the patience, and apologize that so much of it has been required recently.
Yeah, I think the current comic kind of shows that you’ve learned how to squeeze a full comic into a half comic. That’s not very good for the buffer…
So SiliconWolf posted a link into the archives, triggering me to go on a detour.
Couple of thoughts….
1. Not only has the artwork improved significantly, not only do we have backgrounds and even very detailed backgrounds, but also the panel count is crazy high compared to 3 or 4 years ago.
2. Ila appears to be shrinking. http://pastutopia.com/comic/comic-for-wednesday-december-23rd-2/
3. The story line is being advanced at least as fast as it was back then, despite going from 3 to 2 updates per week.
As a consequence of 1 and 3, I’m thinking Past must have given up sleeping completely.
Hey guys, here’s what we are going to do this week – there will be a Thursday comic, but no monday comic. Unfortunately something of… a bit of housing situation problem came up today sort of suddenly. I’m okay, but may or may not have time to work on the comic tonight, and by that time it’d be almost pushed till Tuesday, so let’s just push to Thursday and go from there.
While this isn’t a work problem, the work situation may change next month, but it’s too soon to say for certain. If that sorted out – well, at least in the short term I’ll have a lot more time for comic buffers (though we’ll see what a new job would be like or what I’d end up doing from there…). It’s not a done deal that I’m leaving my current job next month yet though, so no promises; they want to negotiate and I’m willing to hear what they say.
I apologize about all of this (the late comics and the #lifeblogging), but it’s a tad out of my hands beyond that I should have a buffer.
“Guess I shouldn’t have disabled that ah….”
Hmm. Seems as if Ila disabled her low power mode.
http://pastutopia.com/comic/comic-for-wednesday-august-26th/
Or maybe she disabled low power mode AND the alarm that goes along with it.
Hope she doesn’t brown out while writing to her hard drive. That does all sorts of nasty things to files…
Heh, Ila is such an adorable little homicidal maniac. ^^
Avon to the rescue huh. To be fair, Friends and Family says everything is on the table. Heck, they should feel lucky that Skyhammer isn’t dealing with the problem.
Avon hired Arron’s people, remember? I doubt it’ll be Mir and Myer that show up. š
Ah, yea. The verified presence of Kor’s world – up to and including Kally being in the middle of fighting said presence, take priority here, doesn’t it?
Last panel -Would you kindly
Panels 6,7 & 9 Peter has an auto caster/phone stuck in his collar, the translucent panel 8 and possibly 10 and 11 he appears not to have it, did peter activate an edited hard light projection.
I think panels 6, 7, & 9 are showing us what he has, and panels 10 and 11 are showing us he’s good at hiding what he has.
Edit: um, no, panels 6, 7, & 9 are showing us what he has, and panels 8, 10, & 11 are showing us what not him doesn’t have. That is, yeah, I think he activated one of those. Though, on the other hand, that’s some impressive shadows for hard light, if that’s what it is. Maybe my first guess was right. Anyway, we’ll see.
Actualy is the voice bubble pointing to his neck in 10? Maybe it is altering his voice somehow instead?
Penultimate panel has that “you” you’re missing: “Now if you”.
I can’t find any typos! š
Thanks, I somehow missed that
Looking closer, in panels 10 and 11, he’s coming out of a men’s restroom. But in panels 6, 7, and 9, he’s looks to be in front of a three fold mirror, and few men’s restrooms have those. Panel 8 appears to have him reflected in a three fold mirror… except only one of the panes, and they don’t *work* like that. So I’m going to guess that he’s in a studio for recording 3D video to project onto a hard light projector, and those are cameras rather than mirrors. It’s just that at least one of them can double as a monitor.
Negatory.
He is in a public restroom. True.
The wall behind him is one of those three sided corners. In public restrooms without a door, privacy is attained by hiding the urinals in a recess out of line of sight of the exit. If you entered this restroom, you would be under/beside the exit sign. On the wall is a handsfree device for drying hands in Panel 7. If you turned to your left, you would be looking down the restroom, on your left would be a recess with urinals and further down stalls. On your right, there would be sinks with mirrors above them. Panel 8 is the only panel showing Peter’s first person perspective, as he looks into a mirror.
Yes on a closer look in panel 8 there dose seem to be a device on the other side of the neck, which would make sense if its a mirrored reflection. Panels 10 & 11 are to low res to make out the device or lack there of.
@ Samantha Fuller: Here’s an explanation for the actions in panels 6-11:
In panel 6, Peter is smoothing back those two tufts of hair that habitually frame his forehead,
Panel 7 shows us the result.
Panel 8 shows his reflection in the mirror, as he says, “Alright that’ll do”, meaning that he’s satisfied with the results of his grooming (notice the wedge-shaped indentation in the speech bubble indicating that the speaker is out of the panel).
In panel 9, he turns his head to his right when he hears the commotion, giving us a good look at the device with which he is communicating, and carrying the influence of, Mium, since Peter refuses to get an implant.
Panels 10 and 11 are his Grand Entrance for which he made himself more presentable. ^^
Thanks for the comic!
And those long term planes can be a nuisance!
Especially when snakes get into it!
