Comic for Thursday, November 16th
…to be continued…
Alright, folks. We’ll pick back up here in December π A good place to stop, I think… right…? π Next mainline comic update will be the 4th.
I am really sorry that we’re going to have to go into this without buffer to cover my absence, but I just realistically wasn’t able to get things done ahead. I enjoy doing the comic, but have to juggle a lot of things and it takes a lot of time for me to draw a page (I’m slow and there is a lot to draw π )… okay, panels 4, 12 and 13 not so much… π Even those probably took longer than you’d expect as I fussed about how to best represent things with squiggly lines π
I am tempted to say more about boost engines and stuff here… but we will probably learn about that more in the comic, and there has already been a good bit put for those that hunt these sort of things down π
In the meantime, Minus Years updates will take the place of normal updates. I will be doing something for Patreon people, so everyone will be getting something in the form of new content, but as I’ll be traveling and visiting family for the rest of the month with just my Surface, I don’t know if I can make normal comics.
I will still be active on the site, so I don’t think we have rely on the capricious whims of MayW again for updates while I’m away this time. I may just set up autopublish, but I’ll be around in comments and to blather in these little blathering boxes π I know that my blathering is such eloquently riveting stuff.
Spelling errors, however, may or may not be fixable while I’m gone. I will try to get the editable versions of the file, I have them on cloud backup, by my Surface is not a big fan of photoshop, so we’ll see. It’s possible that Patrons have already caught some of the Minus Years typos, but I apologize in advance for anything that is published here and festers for a week (I’ll still be around a few more days, so I can fix anything wrong with this one at least π )
4,12,13? Umm… were you counting starting at zero?
Doesn’t everyone?

As a programmer, that makes sense to me; hence me not simply stating that the counts were wrong. Sorry for taking a month.
Uh… maybe I’ve been in programming too long… haha. Or else I genuinely miscounted, I don’t know what me from last night was thinking. That was a long time ago. π
No such thing as being in programming too long. Maybe programming too long in one session, yes.
what? theres a problem with zero? why does zero get no love? i mean you only have to count 0, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, and 255…
That’s interesting. I would have chosen 256 for the final number in that sequence.
But (assuming an 8-bit word) that overflows and resolves as 0 again.
Yeah, admittedly associating yourself with the wanted murderer. That’ll end well.
I find it interesting how they’re trying to play it as though the IDS are the defenders. Who do I get the feeling that Central is heading hard towards a civil war?
To be fair, she didn’t expect the “Princess” (whatever her name is) to survive that.
Remember the saying, “three people can keep a secret if two of them are dead”?
The corollary in expected/implied use here is, “it’s not a confession if you killed who you were talking to (and everyone in earshot)”.
The dead tell no tales, after all. Presumably that’s still the case, despite the advanced technologies, magic, and magical technologies extant in this setting.

It’s also worth noting that she specified “self-defense and Nathan can’t complain about it”. Emphasis mine.
I suspect that that’s more important than we have information on.
Technically, she just said she “stole” it from Atter. This does not really mean she is his ally. If her power was a dragon and she said she “stole” it form Kally, we wouldn’t think she was on the same side as Kally.
PS. Yes, I’m really hoping Kally shows up and shows this lady how it’s done properly.
PPS. That claw thing is… really creepy. Well drawn.
I think Mium’s going to show up here. Unless Target Three has an even worse surprise waiting for the Malsan forces.
I think Kally is more likely to be one of the “contractors” hired to hunt down, and exterminate with extreme prejudice, Atter. Besides … Kally is still part of IDS (and Central Military Command) – she almost certainly cannot get involved without making the situation even more of a clusterfrag for the “good” side/elements of IDS/Central/etc.
