Tyler has some issues. I mean, beyond the whole he’s been shot twice. Given that he’s pretty clever, charismatic, and powerful mage, he has more than little self-doubt to go around. We have seen Tyler has the power to ‘repair’ or ‘reverse’ certain things, but using that to heal a human body is trickier than it might seem, due to the mechanics. As for what heΒ did do, well…
Anyway, sorry about the sort of late page today, as our Amaranth pointed in the comments yesterday I suppose its not technically late, but I have sort of set the expectation that Monday/Thursday means Sunday Night/Wednesday Night, and we’ll to get back to that. Work has sort of calmed down a bit, so I’m not currently projecting any reason next week should be late. That said… well, you know.
I think it’s safe to say that bright red eyes as well as an Orish complexion are pretty good signs of a warmage. They aren’t entirely unique to them, but in context usually someone like Tyler can make an educated guess. He doesn’t seem to like them. Of course… that’s not really an opinion unique to Tyler – you don’t get a name like “warmage” without a few wars. I reckon some people expected his power to be more directly akin to Rovak’s explody power, but that’s less directly part of the warmage package than the Rovak package.
I think the only way he could do that any better is if he actually announced “By the way, pretty sure the next series of events are arranged by the person you’re talking about.”
Also amusing that they both use dog sounds as a form of mockery. (Or is that Tyler’s way of telling them “Next up, Peter Kepler”?)
I think Tyler’s “Woof, woof, shithead” line is basically “Yeah, I’m the consul’s dog, now I’m going to fucking bite you”. Tyler seems fairly fanatically loyal to the Consul in the sense that he knows she is repeatedly setting him up to have a hard time, and does it anyway.
This page sort of hints that there is more to that backstory, and why Tyler is an immigrant to Malsa. I’m going to guess that’s part of the reason that Tyler is so gung-ho for Malsa.
Suprisingly Kepler is doing a lot of people’s jobs. And I think Tyler actually NOTICED the strange people on top of the building in the final panel. The things, they just got interesting…
Peter just does Peter’s job. For the better or the worse, the Peter’s job title is “The Person with a Finger in Every Pie”. I feel that title emphasis both his personality flaws π
Luckily I tend to re-read each page about half a dozen times. It took me about that many reads to notice tiny Naomi and Mium on the roof. I don’t normally want to weekend to pass quickly, but this should be good.
That’s a good catch. I noticed them as well. I think you can see them walk out the door on the roof in panel 7 as well. It seems like Tyler saw them, which causes him to swing his attitude a little there, but the real question to me is how he would know who they are, given that they are currently disguised (or at least with black hair) and fairly far away.
I dont thibk he needs to. He knows Kepler and thats enough for him to put everything together.
I think you’re right.
Normally I miss this stuff until other readers point it out. Sometimes even then I can’t see it. But this time I noticed the rooftop figures right away. I assumed that the placement of the speech bubbles was meant to draw attention there.
I’m with Byzantine. I think the mere presence of people where people should not be, coupled with Tyler’s knowledge / perception of Peter, is enough for him to know he’d been out played again. And quite likely saved in the process.
Good catch, I missed them, however their alignment is confirmed by what is NOT shown. After all not very many people rate the immediate attention of B.H.T.A.. Leaving Weber to face off against warmage#2 with a 2 bullet handicap. That also leaves Mark with a choice betray Weber, run, or possibly earn the title of mage commander the hard way. And for a bonus we may get to see Naomi face off against the baddest of the warmages Rovic, one on one.
Right!
Naomi vs Rovak in a fight to the…
brain freeze. Ice cream eating contest
ROUND 1
FIGHT!
Hmmm, it does look like some people there. A good eye π
While you usually don’t edit your posts, “wonβt to get back to that” is easily misread to mean the exact opposite of what I think you mean.
And while you’re at it, “pretty good scenes of a warmage” and “less more directly” could use an edit, too. (Also, “complexion” doesn’t have a t, but that’s a nitpick.)
I don’t usually encourage people to correct the commentary because I don’t really want to exhaust people who are kind enough to mop up after the desolation that is the wake of my grammatical talents… I figure the blah blah is more an opt in experience, but I don’t have any objection to correcting things in it, as it’s way easier to update than the comic.
..anyway, fixed, thanks π
Nope, not fixed. It still says βwonβt to get back to thatβ.
Fixed(er) I think π
Panel 13: “Poor, dumb Marc. well, my bad. I should have told you. I’ll deal with him later.”
Also: “Kepler, don’t be *a* bastard”
Fixed, thanks π
Panel 14: At least you get to _do_ die for this country, eh?
Also fixed. Thanks π
