Comic for Thursday, April 7th
Apr08
Ah, I really hate cars. Ended up mostly covering it with text after all that too. Blarg.
Sorry page is a bit late.
Ambitiously I’m going to aim to get a little extra drawing done this weekend. If you have any request for patreon sketches, fan art for other webcomics, or vote incentives it’d be a good time to drop them in… no promises though, Monday’s comic is still the top priority π
Appreciate y’all being patient on content being a little slow this last stretch, and appreciate all the people leaving comments. It’s been fascinating to see the theories and deductions people have π
And that in the lower right corner there, dear readers?
That is setting a timeframe.
(Also, an explosion.)
Maybe it’s just me… but I reckon a comic can never have too many explosions… π
not withstanding xpacetrue’s last bit, about working with peter, having a nominal allys agent kidnapped in your city is a bit embarasing.
now past, your drawing is way better than mine. (but i got some kool stick figures :P) and i think you did quite well on the 2nd frame, that 3/4 view can be hard to scale right, and you did a really good job on it.
and then peter… choices… gotta get miko out of building thats being… regulated… to the ground… with explosions…
gotta get not quite ex girlfrend from being kidnapped.
one teammate is down from “sports related injuries”
yeah sometimes you gotta do things yourself.
Peter’s going to have to make some priority based juggling decisions it looks like. Seems like his stretched a little thin for the number of pieces he has, no matter how good they might be…
I see nothing wrong with the car–especially when compared with your first attempts back in the day.
As long as Kally is in the car, she’s relatively safe, plus it’s destination should reveal the perpetrators. Peter still has time.
Ah, we don’t speak of what cars looked like back in the day! π … In fact, I do my best to pretend that the past art doesn’t exist; it helps the sanity.
Rationally I think that Kally is probably not in high immediate danger assuming the gas had no side effects. But Peter seems a little less deliberate than with past decisions…
Now I’m wondering what “that” might be which Peter referred to: “{Give me options} {Yes, short of that}”
Mium: “I could get Miss Naomi or Miss Ila to the car, then.”
Naomi is still recuperating from that Air Ball match with Summers. Her eyesight is messed up at the moment.
Ila is currently watching Peter’s back. Though, she’s doing that covertly and I doubt Peter knows.
And Mium is watching over Miko while she is ’employed’ by Avon.
Considering these facts, I have a suspicion of the goal behind the gassing. I suspect it was either to get to Peter or to get to Miko.
Peter must still have feelings for Summers. And those who know Peter would likely have surmised as much. They would predict that Peter would redirect allies to investigate as soon as he found out, leaving either himself or Miko exposed.
Now, considering how the people who were with Peter at the Air Ball match would know that Naomi is out of commission, it’s likely that one of them are involved. And we know that the crowd Peter invited to their little outing are not merely normal students. Peter knew that they are spies for Malsa and other organizations.
Peter’s best course of action, right now, would be to ask either Mr. Weber or Ila to check on Summers. Neither is ideal. Peter got Mr. Weber’s favor by building that Dimension Sensor and it could be used for some really important or useful things. And I really doubt Peter would trust Ila with this task.
Peter could ask Mium to check on Summers. But, if he does, I just know something will happen to Miko.
But, if Peter agrees to work with Mr. Weber, he could stipulate that he must check on Summers for him (not using up that last favor). That’s what I’d do.
Speculating on ‘that’, I’m guessing the reply was faster than the other ones as there is no ‘…’ while Peter waits for a reply, but not sure what that means if anything.
Mium notes the car has no external link, but clearly has some visual on it, meaning that probably he can get other cars. He could probably cause a crash or blockade or something (possibly a drastic solution Peter would reject out of hand).
Otherwise it’s possible it’s something to do with Mium’s constraint rules.
Try skipping back and forth between Peter in Panel 6 and Mium in Panels 7-8. Although I could be wrong, I think it’s both halves of the conversation.
Hey… Yeah, that does sound like both halves of the conversation. At least, it makes sense.
If so, the “Yes, short of that” would indicate that Peter does not want to get the M.S.B. involved and would rather not use up his last favor.
Hmm. It almost does make sense that way. Weird.
it’s ok, I can’t draw a straight line or shape to save my life either, but either way not bad 7 to 9/10.
Well, a little over a year ago I couldn’t really draw a smooth line or curve at all (it shows on the early pages where I was relying on a combination of tiny connected lines and the pen tool). Hours of practice have made mediocre though! π
At this point I think the biggest things I struggle with are panel composition; the way I ‘imagine’ the pages doesn’t usually translate well to panels; conveying flow and movement are… hard. For me.
I end up with a lot of weird angles and break the ‘180 degrees’ rule constantly (frequently multiple times a page) but I think its been slowly getting better.
There are lots of little peculiarities to drawing the comic; I think I barely notice how stylized the characters are sometimes, and it makes translating other objects strange occasionally; plus there is just a huge amount of objects that need to show up occasionally that I just don’t really know how to draw.
Still, learning to draw has always been one of the goals of the comic, I’m just glad that we’ve gotten so many people along for the ride in the story while I do it! Has made it a lot more fun.
