Poor Ryn. The flying yacht was probably pretty nice too. He’s not used to the things he says mattering for long periods of time after he says them. He does marketing, he’s not in the business of actually following through (… no author commentary there… 😉 )
I put a up new painty-thing, this time of Kally. It’s mostly a reminder that I’m not very good at that style of drawing, but its something I’d really like to get better at. While it’s never really a feasible way to draw the comic, I’m always fascinated by people who are good at doing digital painting, so it’s something I try to work at learning from time to time, and I guess it sort it helps define what the characters look like beyond the stylistic limitations of the comic, though… perhaps not so much at my current level 😉 Of course, god knows that I struggle to find enough time to draw the comic let alone get fancy most of the time, but it’s still good to have hobbies (<- This statement is sarcasm, I have way way too many hobbies).
Anyway.
Panel 4: Vikram -> Varkim
Just a heads up, tomorrows comic will be end of day tomorrow instead of end of day today.
Peter? The villain? What in the world makes you think he’s limiting himself so by being only on one side of that title? (He’s also probably the hero, and the guy pulling strings on any other heroes & villains in half of the setting, all while making it entertaining to watch.)
Oh, also, wow, I love those whiteboards. Hee!
You know Kally, Query is an AI of some variety. If there aren’t any powered on electronics in the area with audio recievers (like say a computer) he can’t hear you. And I’m not entirely sure he CAN operate/manipulate power-off objects, without a mobile terminal around. Particularly if they are old fashioned (by our standards) disruption break power-off switches.
This has a really good point in that actual switches that break the power are a good defense against AI.
It is actually quite possible that Peter would have AI proofed his office against eavesdropping by making it so there is nothing that can be hacked there. A whiteboard is a good example. While Peter has the best AI in town, he also actually knows the dangers, and Mium isn’t unlimited (he can’t watch everything).
Of course, there is a pretty good chance Mium could hear her if he really wanted, but we’ll see what Mium is up to post skip I guess.
I think it’s unreasonable to expect that Query isn’t monitoring the room. Electronic devices in this world are so connected that Mium uses *people* as peripherals, taking advantage of implant chips. Also keep in mind that even in our world, many devices like DVRs are still turned on even when they’re turned off. It would be very strange if Query could not hear her.
Query ignoring her because she lacks authority and knows Peter is about to show up to deal with her? Totally in his wheelhouse.
I really like the new rule.
Since the “damning evidence” isn’t in the drawer that proves he isn’t a villain 😛 Arrogant asshole with no people skills? Yes. Villain? No. You can be an arrogant asshole and still be the good guy *cough*Punisher*cough*.
I like Punisher. He’s one of my favorites. But good guy? Antihero maybe. Glorious Bastard if you think he has a long range plan. Good guy is a stretch though.
That look in panel two is Ryn realizing that he’s been outplayed. In every possible way. He’s not used to that feeling…
I can see why they used to date. The BST and UST is so thick it can smother a CLF3 fire.
Kally is really pretty.
Yeah, she knows Mium so well. There’s no way she actually expected to find anything, and just wanted to talk to him.
I really love those whiteboard notes.
The good thing for Ryn is he’s both intelligent enough to realize the implications, and has a smart, competent underling he can have handling the details. I’m still waiting for Mir’s freak out when he mentions Peter to her though. It’s going to be hilarious.
Im just looking forward to when they meet and have to pretend like they dont each other and be friendly.
