Comic for Tuesday, July 27th, 2021
Jul28
Bet you checked just to see when I’d delayed the page to this time, but ha! a comic!
Arkady is just woke up from a bit of a nap, and is very much punting on trying to figure out what is going on. Once he determines that it is, best he can tell, an Ila-mergecy and not an emergency, he figures that he can probably try to untangle whatever is going on when he is more awake and is trying to buy time until he has any chance of thinking his way through Ila-ogic.
Bonus panel 6.5: Tyler Weber is following Vium.
LOL. I’m not sure Tyler is sneaky enough to be following Vium. Dr Martin on the other hand…
Scarf debt is serious business….
Also, if I’m not mistaken, Ila’s not even realizing the severity of the situation.
Eliana strikes me as the sort of person who’s taken up knitting, and given that she tends to have a lot of sitting to do… short version, that’s a hand-made scarf, and any store-bought scarf just will not do to repay that debt.
Usually the best plan to get out of that kind of debt is to ask what it’d take, and hope they don’t pass it off as no big deal or something. Sure, it’s uncouth, but it’s better than flailing around for a lifetime.
That raises an interesting question.
If Ila actually made scarfs herself to satisfy the debt, would they be technically machine-made?
I’m more concerned about how lethal the finished product will be. Monofilament edging strikes me as very possible.
See? This is what I’m thinking. Monofilament scarving is a risk here. Ila isn’t a random someone. She might not fully understand gifting, but she is someone capable of flying support for a transport ship. WITHOUT a fighter jet!
Machine made or hand made, I’m thinking she’s got the skills to make good on some scarf debt.
Vium seems to have some of the original Mium’s quirks….
Well, this just took an interesting turn. Who the hell is Dendrin? Did we meet him before and my senility is showing?
He was the hitman Tokiwa hired to take care of Tom β and if you clicked the “Dendrin” tag under the comic, you’d know. π (It works! And that particular comic is tagged!)
I had assumed he was also the one who shot down the plane Nathan had just dragged Tom off, but I had also assumed he would have “taken a gander” at the crash site, in which case Tom would have met him there. Or maybe Tom followed him from there?
Or maybe he just decided to hightail it out of Palindra instead of verifying the kill, but was stymied by the Malsa gates being shut down, so Tom managed to track him down after all?
Or maybe someone else shot down the plane, trying to keep Nathan from going where he was going, as Tom theorized, and this is unrelated to when we last saw Tom? β¦ nah β¦
Ah, thank you. I should have clicked on his tag. I’m also going with, “he was the guy who shot down the plane…” Though it seems more likely that Nathan was the target and Tom would have been collateral damage. That said, he badly underestimated Nathan’s abilities.
Reply #2 – Just went back and reread the old comic – it certainly would appear that Tom was the intended target.
Crap!! My pitchforks arrived all rusty!! >:(
I love the comic. I’m thrilled that we’ve got it.
But boy, the pitchfork conversation was just heating up!
Rusty pitchforks can usually be cleaned up nicely by the simple expedient of…. using them. Seriously. π
Gods the utterly disarming and re-arming honesty of Illa is quite nice.
Panel 9
“Though it seems we have a guest…?”
The guy in the black cap is not speaking proper english, but i believe that is supposed to be the way of it.
Panel 9: …though it seems we have a… guest?
Fixed, thanks π
Panel 1, 3rd bit. What do YOU need it for. Arkady is speaking brokenly, but I don’t think he’s dropping words elsewhere?
Thanks!
