Comic for Thursday, January 11th
Jan12
Hi!
PastUtopia is currently Out of the Office! This comic is published by the comic publishing robot (cough, cough. Total a robot)!
PastUtopia is very sorry about the grammar errors, and will fix them in February, so please still feel free to point out when PastUtopia is a moron! And a dummy! Since I am robot, that is not mean! I didn’t edit PastUtopia’s away message at all!
Please enjoy the comic and talk to the other commentators in PastUtopia’s absence! PastUtopia will read all the comments in Feburary, or probably sooner while slacking off from travelling!
Well, for those who have wondered, this page shows that Miko is older than Ila was designed to look.
It also tells us that Miko knows all about the implant, and is okay with it.
Was just flipping through the chapter again and noticed this comment. Not sure if you will see this, but what about this page makes you think that Miko is older?
I’ve been operating on the assumption that Miko is probably just short and scrawny rather than a kid, but just not sure what about this page shows that.
Breasts. Ila is flat-chested.
With Miko’s comments about having fleshy bits replaced, I’ve become curious about the IDS’s medical tech. Do they just have artificial organs, or did autocasters allow for entire organs to be replaced?
Like are there apps that an autocaster phone can use to stop a heart-attack?
Man, these two face to face. And it’s awesome to watch, as completely expected. Miko just completely mocks Peter for pretty much everything on this page and doesn’t even make it sounds mean for at least half of it. (And he just takes it in stride as if it’s completely expected. I love it. The “Hell’s Doorman” line just feels perfect.)
And despite everything always sounding like Peter’s in charge, he sounds like he’s a butler right now. (This is so weird…)
And then it ends on a note that makes me think we’re about to get one hell of a right hook to the feels. :<
(I still love this page though. Adore it.)
o_O I just noticed that HUGE tower computer on the table next to Miko (in panel 2). It stands at least as tall as Miko. (It’s got to be around 5 feet tall.) And it at least resembles a tower PC. I can’t imagine it being anything like an espresso machine or an alarm clock radio, anyway.
Is that their world’s equivalent of a network server or a Beowulf cluster? Perhaps it’s a cluster of cheap microcomputers, something like a homemade cluster of $9 C.H.I.P.s or $5 Raspberries?
Then again, perspective seems a bit off in panel 2 – like we’re looking at the room through a fisheye lens or something.
Seems strange to have a computer on a bedside table like that. Perhaps Miko has been around computers for so long that the gentle hum of the cooling fans and the grind of the hard drives can put her right to sleep – sort of like ocean waves?
Given what Muim can do, if that is one of his servers, then Miko may be more then a little safer with it by their bedside. 🙂 At least assuming Muim stays good, though if he does goes bad, I don’t know if distance will really matter.
Interesting.
First of all Peter and Miko seem to act at least a little nicer with each other, though Miko is still snarky.
There is an interesting looking tower beside Miko’s bed, and something smaller on the other side, perhaps one of Muim’s systems.
Peter seems to have gotten a spare uniform.
On a more interesting note did Miko remember what happened this time? Miko mentioned forgetting parts of what happened the first time. Now though they are immediately talking about it as soon as they wake up. What do they remember? I guess time will tell.
The Miko plot thickens. Also, Peter is wearing a Levenworth uniform? That should be interesting…
Oh good seeing Peter deal with someone who probably is his equal in planning.
Also Miko, I’m not sure how safe more replacements would be. Either that or there is some goal bleed over.
Huh. Is she being serious with that bit about knowing how it feels to be Peter, or is she being snarky? I honestly can’t tell.
i don’t know either, but because it is miko, going to guess snarky…
I think she’s insinuating that he has a swollen head. 🙂
Let’s commence with the grammar corrections!
Panel 3: “fairly good *condition*”
Panel 6: I think the phrases are more commonly written as “make my *own* decisions” and “as much *a* part of it,” at least as I’ve heard them, although I could also attribute these idiosyncrasies to Miko’s speech patterns.
one of those was my fault* the others will have to wait 🙁
*pastutopia has like 4 versions of the comics in different states of broken, so…..
“Good morning to you, too.” rather than “…you to.”
Another correction needed:
Panel 2: “Good morning to you too.” That is, with two letter ‘o’s.
