Maia is not known for her stoic silences. Sometimes she will pout for a few minutes, but that doesn’t last very long if no one is paying attention. She certainly seems more friendly toward Mium than Peter or Kally…
She is, however, known for being an inquisitive pest with a malfunctioning sense of danger, depending on who you ask…
Sorry for bit of a late comic and short commentary, work and stuffs been busy, but least we are keeping pace now. Toss me ideas for sketches and stuff and I’ll add more of those up too. Pretty sure I’ll have some time this weekend to catch up on comic drawing.
A page of Magnolia and nothing I can use as an updated avatar… maybe soon…
Will be interesting to see these characters, we are already learning things. That is also the clearest shot of an autocaster/cellphone we have seen. Seems like it has a on-screen “cast this spell” button. Do people download spells as apps?
Duly noted. I’ll see what I can do…
Well, most spells are not quite so freely accessible as that, but they can loaded onto a general autocaster like that and swapped out.
Quiet person, meet never-shuts-up person.
Who gets tired of it first?
This encounter may clear up something I have been curious about. Mium is an AI yet it seems to me he is as susceptible to doing things for smiling girls as most male fleshbags are and I wondered if it was me projecting onto the character or something in his personality.
? I’m trying to find some time when that seems to be the case. Naomi is the only one and I think that is part of the programming. Otherwise, he seems to treat everyone the same.
Naomi, Kally and Miko are the only girls I recall him talking to. He seems to have some sort attachment to Naomi, but it could be basically anything. On the cynical side, Naomi gives him instructions much less carefully than Peter allowing him to do things he wouldn’t normally be able to do. On the fluffy side (I don’t know, what is the opposite of cynicism?) she also treats him like a human.
Kally he sort of just constantly trolls, which I assume is because he is somewhat reflective of Peter, and Miko who we’ve mostly just seen one side of, but it seems he also trolls constantly.
So, the only person he does not troll is Naomi. Results inconclusive to me. Could be because she is walking fanservice or because of more cynical/analytical reasons.
I suppose it was poorly worded on my part, Mium doesn’t seem to talk to males except Peter (and the poor traffic cop) at all but does interact with Naomi, Kally, Miko and Ila. Miko and Peter have expressed concern (or perhaps jealousy) in Mium and Naomi’s relationship. His trollery of Miko and Kally is generally occurring while he is being over protective as well which could be part of his programming or a choice to protect people important to Peter. Ila most has the best case for being a procedurally driven response as it changed after Naomi designated her as a sibling. Again my curiosity is driven by PastUtopia’s writing it could be really advanced programming or Mium is sentient and emotional either is likely and we (or maybe just me) can’t be sure yet.
Grammar edits:
Panel 3/4: “Halfway” is one word.
Panel 6: Bubble 6: “Why *you are* sitting”; Bubble 7: “A tons of”?
Also, your first panel speech bubble overflows the side of your panel in such a way as to be cut off; I think perhaps it’s more typical to cut it at the edge of the panel unless there’s a reason not to.
Fixed! Sorry for the delay.
As for the bubbles over the panelling, it’s an inconsistency that crops up occasionally because I am lazy. Basically all the bubbles are on the same layer; usually that layer is under the frame, but occasionally I need to do bubbles over the frame like in the middle panel here, so I put the bubble layer over the frame. I really should just split the bubble layer into two layers.
Maia should provide a shoehorn to her conversation partners, so that they can get a word or two in, occasionally. 🙂
Blind? Magnolia is blind? Or is her comment just an offbeat sense of humor on display?
Well, she is the one character I have never seen with her eyes open. Mione was frequently drawn with her eyes closed, but opens them here and there and is clearly not blind.
I find it curious that someone would be blind considering the magic and technology. I also find it interesting that she noticed not just that Maia was casting but clearly what she was casting.
Well, medical technology is a good bit more advanced here, though some people would opt out of the intrusive producers likely. While eyes and the like can lab grown and provided anew between magic and technology, there are many reasons that wouldn’t apply to everyone for monetary reasons (that’s rather expensive), cultural reasons, religious reasons, etc.
All of that is no implications about Magnolia, just some background information on medical technology in the setting.
I’m guessing she is only sort-of blind, and uses her Eidos sense as a reasonable replacement (up to and including detecting light)
Maybe she has a case of “eyes-closed-itis” that results in being unable to see… 😐
I imagine we’ll see more about it eventually… now look at what you’ve made me do… 😕
I agree with magnolia, bad plan.
My responses to each of those questions/comments would probably be:
-glare-
“right” -possibly with an eye roll-
“I guess”
“not exactly”
“no”
-glare-
-eye roll, or continue glaring-
she isn’t done speaking and I am almost completely incapable of interrupting someone while they are speaking so I don’t have a response for the incomplete statement. That said, I get the impression that I wouldn’t be able to give any response to her as that panel makes it seem she is someone who doesn’t breath while talking.
To Maia, talking could be like playing the harmonica. Done on the inbreath and the outbreath.
I’ve known people like that……
