Chapter 16 is off to a rather mundane start… 🙂
I’m pretty sure Naomi sat in a chair once, but she doesn’t find them preferably.
Poor Kally is realizing that she’s left behind the only thing she sort of had figured out. She just does not really know what to make of Naomi.
I will also note I suppose that if Naomi’s hair seems to have grown an abnormal amount in one day (based on how much purple is showing again)… it absolutely has. It tends to do that after she sleeps off being shot and things.

I just absolutely love Naomi and her personality. That wanna be friends inquiry at the end cracked me up.
I am just surprised she is actually asking instead of declaring.
At first, I had thoughts about the first box of Tasty Chomps Ila tried being stale. Then I remembered, this is Peter. It wouldn’t have had time to get stale before the house blew up, would it? I mean, I think the first house explosion in comic was after Ila had been eating breakfast with the group, but it’s at least been strongly implied this wasn’t an unusual experience for Peter.
In unrelated news, cereal is actually designed to make you hungry more, so Naomi shouldn’t need to worry about it. Also, a lot of it is exactly the sort of stuff she wants to save room for – such as the Tasty Chomps Kally likes. I mean, it’s basically Lucky Charms (except actually magically delicious, and not as many types of quote charms unquote. Also with a distinct hint of the imaginary goodness of Fruity Oaty Bars.)
Finally, no, I did not note that. So what are the 5 (or more?) pages I don’t have any record of? Not that I’m doubting you. Just that I clearly failed somewhere.
I eat four boxes a day. Not four boxes of cereal, just four boxes.
Did you count the redrawn pages separately, Tgape?
Cardboard or wood?
If wood, I would highly recommend switching to pallets.
Pallets are alright, but you still need to either pull the nails out or eat around them, I find that offcuts or seconds from the local sawmill to be more convenient.
Personally, I like the flavor that the nails add. Was never able to get into that “organic-free-range” wood. Cruelty can be a great condiment.

Cardboard. I need the fiber, but I like processed foods.

I do not count redrawn pages separately. If Past is counting them separately, that would explain the delta, as there’s about a dozen of those.
To be clear, I don’t eat the actual bowls, just the contents of the bowls. That said, back in the day, I liked to imagine if Total had me do a cereal commercial for them.
Announcer: “You’re eating Fruit Loops for breakfast. I hope you’re hungry, because you’ll need to eat five bowls of cereal to get the nutrition in one bowl of Total.”

Boxes may be a good source of cardboard, but I prefer Mission’s Carb-balance tortillas. Which, if you look at the ingredients list carefully, you may realize is more apropos to this discussion than one might expect. But realistically speaking, how else does one get food that is 70% fiber by weight?

I’ve felt for a very long time that Peter was deliberately antagonizing Kally so as to protect her by deflecting suspicion from her. Since elements of the I.D.S. tried to take her out anyway, he’s pretty much stopped doing that–in fact, they’ve slowly been joining forces, which is pretty much Peter’s definition of love. ^^
I’m pretty sure that Kali is going to be the first one to make a move and I CAN’T WAIT!!! (lol)
(I’m not saying that I expect it soon, just that I’m really looking forward to it, should it ever happen.)

I think what happened when the IDS kidnapped Kally was enough of a clue. Plus Mium telling her she was irreplaceable to Peter, of course…
Kally reminds me a lot more of her Minus Years self here, which is probably intentional, as she has been cast out of the role she was comfortable and confident in. That same Kally is just under the surface when she doesn’t have a confident exterior up.
I do find it interesting that it seems that Peter stocked her favorite cereal the whole time. Interesting the various implications of that. Just habit? Perhaps… but I think a bit more than that.
EDIT: Is that cereal called “Tasty Chomps”…? Damn, now I want to try it.
EDIT 2: Does Naomi’s shirt say “ATARAH”… as in her name on it? That is sort of potentially interesting as it does not look like jersey…
Why would you expect jerseys for magic sports to be made with the same design considerations as non-magic jerseys for non-magic sports?
I’m pretty sure that’s a jersey for magic sports. It may even be magic itself, or at least had its properties tweaked with magic.
You can see an example of what we can be pretty sure is a jersey in the vote incentive (the same one that’s been there a long time). The point of a jersey is to be clearly identifiable, and what she’s wearing wouldn’t really be (black, the name is hard to read).
It also just looks pretty much like a normal woman’s sport tank top you’d see every day. What makes it interesting to me is that it looks like branding more than identification. Could still be a jersey, but my first guess is that it isn’t.
I’m not sure, but I feel like it opens up some potential ideas about Naomi’s background a little. We know that she is somewhat famous, very good at sports, and attractive. She is a designer kid. She also might have a sports clothing brand named (or at least branded) after her. Not sure, but these all seem like they are ideas that could fit together, though obviously we don’t know enough about her background to be sure.

So she probably needed to wear it for some advertising something or other, and got to take it home, but is probably about as likely to be wanting to wear it in public as most real world athletes want to wear their own branded stuff. (I’m sure there are some who *love* wearing it, but I’d be surprised if that were the majority.) Is this a suggestion that their recent life experiences has been as rough on her wardrobe as it has been on Mium’s?
Her having branded clothing (and thus, by implication, endorsement deals, at minimum regarding said branded clothing) would explain why Peter doesn’t pay her. I recall from playing Master of Magic that noble retainers paid the player 10 gold per turn, rather than having an upkeep cost. As I understand it, Naomi’s not exactly a Family member, but there could be some of the same sort of thing going on there.
There’s sports wear other than jerseys that have insignia; that could be something like a leotard.
congratulations on such a milestone. as for Naomi, I’m not sure what to think of her.
