While I guess you already knew their names from the character tags, I suppose now you know which one is which.
Peter has a totally legitimate reason for being included in the meeting! The meeting is ostensibly about the logistics of resettling tens of thousands of civilians from Central to Malsa. Peter is the Malsan official with both the legal authority over and practical control of all transit between Central and Malsa. His involvement is not only legitimate, but completely necessary if the relocation is to be successful.
I don’t think this meeting will quite turn out how Alex “Sir” Fairway believes. Peter will likely have diplomatic immunity as interim MSB chief. Imagine Peter walking in with the Consull while holding hands with Kally. Behind them is Nathan, Tyler Eliana and Magnolia. Naomi follows with F5, F8 and Ila. A few more Malsons such as Ashvalt follow. Clueless Alex makes noises about arresting Peter when Fluffy pokes his head through the doorway. Peter says “No, you cannot eat him” and that pretty well ends Alex’s plan.
I love the vibe of “just put him on the guest list and see if he shows up”.
I can’t imagine the IDS bringing all these people over to central, but that means there will be a lot of very important IDS people on the ground in Malsa. Should be interesting.
Or they’ll be doing holographic conferencing, with some IDS people in central and the rest in Malsa, with just enough jackbooted thugs to let Peter out of their grasp more easily than they can possibly imagine.
The part I love about this vibe is we all know it’s going to work, just the end goal won’t be met.
Remote call probably also would reduce the odds of various attendees on the Central Side trying to kill each other when things happen predictably.
Hmm, something interesting is I’d assumed the IDS had lost the only copy of the bridgepoint data. Which seemed crazy to me, but was how they treated it in story. However, if it was just the local copy and Biana was covering up the loss… Well that makes much more sense. Especially in how the teleporter was able to be in the same dimension as the data.
I’m thinking that the missing bridgepoint data may be specific to Palindra. That is, what is missing is likely the portion of the data that is specific to this world. But, apparently, Kor’s World is very, very interested in obtaining this data for some reason. Either that, or Kor’s World just does not want the IDS or Palindra to have it. I have a few theories on why Kor’s world is interested, but I don’t remember the story giving many clues on the why.
I suppose another theory is that Peter set things up to either make sure only one copy remains of the bridgepoint data (rather helps to have a true AI helping him) or at least made others believe that only one copy exists in order to bait and motivate Kor’s World into making a grab for it.
I’m thinking that the bridgepoint needs to be activated on both sides in order for it to work, necessitating that both sides have access to the bridgepoint data. Denying either side slows any dimentional traversal to a crawl. Kor’s World seems to view themselves as the “dimensional universe’s police” in that they hunt down “problematic” elements and, if the problem is bad enough, wipe out the entire world involved. Central and Palindra both seem to be problematic, so it makes sense that Kor’s World wouldn’t want to let the “infections” intermingle or spread (even if they are only focused on stopping the problematic elements and aren’t actively trying to prevent other factions from gaining power).
I’m trying to figure out how few people could show up to this meeting and still meet Alex’s list of everyone involved.
I get 8. Alex himself, Minerva, Kyle(civil service), Aaron(IDS), and Peter Kepler, The Consul, Ryn, (I don’t remember the name of the other company rep). I don’t think it would be good to reduce Peter to a company rep though it would reduce variables.
People from Palindra will likely tally Peter in their corner loosely without considering his part with the others. They have all had some level of success based on Peter’s prior involvement.
Alex will be bothered by how many have the name Kepler.
Mium may not be physically present, but will be monitoring. I think Mium wants a lower profile than to directly interact with Alex, and there is no need for him to do so since he will certainly be feeding Peter and possibly the Consul information.
Inviting Peter to this meeting, assuming Mium is his +1 means this is going to be *fun*.
Presumably meeting by video/ phone. Peter at least has an arrest order or five attached to his name.
Peter has a history of using holograms (masked by ellipsis) in such circumstances. But only on one occasion so far has it violently exploded…
As suggested previously, Kally is likely to be top billing for +1. She IS from Central, and doesn’t play politics, but commands much respect. Also she probably scrubs up well.
I think you’ll find Mium is on the guest list if he needs to be: he is THAT deputised agent of the Malsan Bureau (i.e. the one who visited Central), so it would be logical to invite him.
The big question: is this ALL AN ELABORATE SCHEME to flush out Alex? In which case Peter would totally show. Peter would know if he pokes too much, Alex would need to respond, right? Clearly Frank has been provided with enough motivation to bring this to the attention of Alex… so either all this is intentional to get Alex’s attention OR it’s just the result of the current actions… in which case Peter must have plans, because I get a feeling that Alex is definitely one of those annoying inconveniences that you simply cannot ignore.
Mium works best from the shadows, the king of indirect action. Most of his direct actions target people acting undercover. His most overt action was sending Ila after Artem, which Peter dismissed as “Not pointed at you.”
Their names are Frank and “sir.”
Sounds like a fun shindig. If Peter accepts the invite, I suppose Kally will get to play dress up. Does Fluffy have formal attire?!
p.s. That’s Malsan head of state, not Maslan.
On the one hand, this page covers 50% of my major concerns with the last page. On the other hand, you present an amusing way to handle the remaining 50%.
Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure there have been numerous sirs so far this comic. :/
The character label says the characters are “Frank Marsh” and “Alex Fairway”, so presumably the one not named Frank is named Alex.
It does seem likely, but who am I try to limit our author?!
Alexis important and does not let most people forget that. He introduces himself as ‘My name is Alex Fairway but you may call me sir.”
Maybe they’re all secretly one person!
Do you know how hard it is to find a suit, big enough for a Dragon.. Wings and all?!
Yes… Yes I do…
Don’t ask…
I am reminded of Mark Dagon of the late, lamented Southern Knights, seen in the back of this image with his alter form behind the group:

More difficult now since the shopkeeper peed his pants when Kally told Fluffy that he count not eat the shopkeeper for suggesting a leash and no, he could not burn down the shop.
