Comic for Monday, June 18th, 2018
…and we are back with the final page of Chapter 12. We’ll be launching into… the third? Fourth? Intermission after this? But intermission in this case doesn’t mean break or even flash back, but, well, we’ll see. Chance to see and catch up with a few people here and there.
One might wonder if anyone in this comic has a normal sleep pattern, and, well, the answer is mostly no. Kally would prefer to, but life doesn’t really have a habit of letting her given that she doesn’t trust Peter to be left unattended. Peter’s relationship with a day/night cycle is one of documented ambivalience. Mium does not appear to find it a compelling use of time, and Naomi thinks sleeping through your free time is a tragic waste when you can instead sleep through boring things like classes and Peter talking.

…re-reading this page, I’m now wondering if there’s not a budding Naomi x Mium.
But no, the UST between Kali and Peter’s been thick this whole time. Heck, Peter’s made it pretty clear that he left her not out of lack of what passes for affection, but out of inability to bring her in at the time he left. Wanting her kept there at the school was a pretty clear sign he WANTS her involved in a way that won’t make her feel like she’s the one committing betrayals.
I think Naomi x Mium is a bit more complicated than that. Naomi almost certainly has a crush on Mium, but I think she is fully aware of what he actually is. Several times she refers to an awareness that his human personality is just something he does to interact with people, despite her fiercely protesting anyone calling him something other than a person.
I get the feeling that she sort of has a crush on a human personality she knows is basically designed for her, which makes it pretty complicated.
I think there’s a grammar error in the first sentence of panel 3, but I can’t figure out what it’s trying to say.
You mean, “Total complexity is a path of probabilistic events”? It looks fine to me.
The whole panel sounds like a quote from a textbook to me.
Kally: Has an item of her to-do list as “kicking in the face of an I.D.S. Director”.
Peter: Almost sounds like he’s bragging about that warrant. (Or maybe proud but trying to play it down.)
Naomi: Saving her sleep for times when she’s supposed to do something boring/she doesn’t want to do….and wants to go play more (apparently bloodthirsty?) sports…after a life-threatening (to some, if maybe not her, apparently) fight.
Mium: Suggests Naomi could try being more like normal people.
As unbelievably hilarious as that last one is, I think Kally wins this one….and not just for the bullet-point item I listed, but that’s certainly a major point.
That’s a great way to end things. Everyone certainly loves their sarcasm.
