Jan21
Sorry, things are a tad hectic as I am bad at traveling places, so this’ll be a brief commentary. Wait… is that something I need to apologize for? Err… you’re welcome? There, now they’ll think it’s a good thing instead of a bad thing. Oh shit I’m still typing why I am typing this part that won’t help my case at all-
Hope ya’ll doing well and what not. 😉
Sort of got behind the ball on a few things due to travel schedule. Update tomorrow will be late, and it appears that something went wrong with the Patreon schedule – apologies all. Will get updates fixed when I’m back!
Personally, I don’t think you need to apologize for not giving us free stuff exactly on schedule any more than you need to apologize for not talking at length about something in the commentary.
An argument could be made on the Patreon side of the house, but I don’t think you’re making nearly enough there to feel guilty about having a primary job that pays the bills. I mean, if I were paying you an hourly rate, you’d have fulfilled your entire obligation to me for this month on January 3rd – and then some. Fortunately, I’m not paying you an hourly rate, else I’d be exceedingly in arrears. I’m just giving a pittance as thanks because I can for the moment.
While I agree apologies aren’t needed, I do appreciate the notification that the comic’s going to be late posting.
Ila… I hope you learn a lesson from this. Here are a couple of suggested ones:
1. Relying on your brother to solve problems may cause problems
2. Pack food for excursions.
3. Your not unstoppable.
All three of those are vital lessons and hopefully do not have too many bad associations going forward.
2. Pack *tasty* food for excursions.
3. You’re not unstoppable.
I don’t think that Ila would make that particular mistake, but when I was in Boy Scouts so many decades ago, some of my fellow scouts did, including the most food motivated of the bunch. He did at least learn that trip that almost nobody would trade him decent stuff for his mistakes… and I’d only make that mistake once.
For what it’s worth, thanks to thedailywtf, I’ve learned that there were worse mistakes he could’ve made for his emergency food stash, but he might have needed to order them internationally. (The ones that were no-brainer worse than what he’d brought were all international items. I did not dare try the ones I was not familiar with after seeing someone proposing that they were debatably worse than tar-based candy.)
Lets not forget, they are not running from the air superiority drones only, but also from whatever it is Arkadys contact couldnt tell him. But he told him to get out of there ASAP.
My guess would be Malsas equivalent of a nuclear strike.
While I dont think, that could do substantial harm to Ilas chassis, Arkady cant be sure about that. He might know what’s coming and he might think its capable of hurting her.
Taking into account how her brother could react, getting her out of the danger zone might be just as important as not accidently dissecting her in terms of civilisation level
Nothing says you care like reducing your sister’s kidnappers a civilization level or two. …Now I have this horrible desire for them to kidnap her just so we can see Muim’s reaction.
Poor Arkady. It’s easy to forget that he only knows Ila as a mysteriously powerful and weirdly niave mage-girl, and has no idea that she’s a bioroid based on an AI that can and does use magic with the precision of a post-modern supercomputer.
“…the increasingly pressing question of exactly… who [her] brother actually is,” indeed.
He’s such a nice guy. I’m glad Ila’s so fond of him; it’s probably good for her.
Arkady has a pretty good idea what Ila is and can do. However it is one thing to find out one is friends with an adorable little muderbot.
It is an entirely different thing to find out she has an big brother who is possibly even more dangerous and unaccounted for. Arky is going to be so relieved to find out the Council has already come to terms with Mium.
I want the next vote incentive to be them pulling this stolen-flying-vehicle into the drive through of this worlds McDs.
Because Ila needs yummy foods badly.
Arkady’s speech pattern is slightly annoying right now. I can’t tell if his pause is just a verbal tick, or if he’s actually hesitating to call the MREs they have ‘food’.
I think he’s hesitating to call it food.
He knows she’s a big fan of tasty food, and this is apparently not it. He also is now very aware that she’s not someone he ever wants to anger.
Oh yeah, definite super weapon time, soon. Muhahaha
