Comic for Monday, January 17th, 2022
Jan17
Q&A is still in progress. It’s not that it’s taking that long, I’ve just been sort of distracted – my other project is going through the print proof stage and getting the details of freight shipping and all that hammered out, so I’ve been fairly distracted.
Ila may be somewhat confused on the finer points of humans.
Page will probably be up tomorrow.
So regarding the bottom three panels.. big couples energy there. It could practically have been three snapshots of my wife and I!
> Nonetheless, it does seem like the sort of thing that Ila’s big brother might take a few minutes to explain at *some* point
Only if asked directly. These sorts of things seem to be something Mium would find funny.
We know he has a sense of humor, especially when Past had him pull the whole “I have a permit” for the Anti-Material rifle bit.
I wish we could post pictures here. This comic needs more anti material rifles.
Okay, I know Peter might be reading somewhat actually important, but the image of him just reading from a Kindle or seeing the latest update for a webtoon or whatever is hilarious for me! Especially if you picture this scenario:
Peter’s many, many enemies: Curse that sneaky son of bitch! How does he know so much!? The only way a human could ever be this well informed must be to dedicate himself entirely to research and scheming, leaving no room for anything else in his life!

Peter, at that moment: Hmm, I appreciate this author’s commitment to detail, but their delivery is leaving something to be desired. You got any recommendations Kally?
Kally: Sure, this one doesn’t update that frequently but the quality’s been pretty good so far.
Peter: Neat, I’ll see if I can binge it between the session of globe spanning plots and political manipulation. Maybe after lunch.
XDXDXD
I just assumed he was reading a comic or novel or something, didn’t occur to me it might be something else until reading the comments.
You know, we never asked Past what he publishes in Malsa. Maybe it’s a webcomic about an artist who publishes D&D modules?
Or it could be current American politics from the last 5 or 6 years, but that should be a comedy. Neither Kally nor Peter are busting a gut.
Not sure if Ila is supposed to be getting the grammar wrong or if panel 4 should be “there ARE little versions…” With Ila i could believe either.
I already read this one.
Who wants to bet that Peter needs to know some details of Central’s “procedures for what to do when someone locks us out of our gates”? Peter needs to know what their 8th level fall back plan is likely to be. Kally, predictably, has already read this one.
No doubt Mium has already plugged that into his tree, but Peter is curious.
Actually, I think Peter *wrote* their procedures for “What to do when someone locks us out of our gates?”
Only complication was, for some odd reason, the day before the gates were locked, all of the known pathfinders on Central who weren’t already on assignment were given assignments to go off-world, and now all of the pathfinders are on worlds they can’t get to and can’t even communicate with. So those plans are kind of hosed.
But this is all just bad luck in the timing. Of course whomever did this to the gates could not have found out about who those people were, no way.
Naomi definitely needs to add that as a strapline to her branded merch though
“Too awesome to get scars”
Well, its convention to seat little brothers or sisters on your lap, so clearly they are “laptop models”….
I don’t think she’s met any younger siblings other than herself before. And she is, in some senses of the word, an updated model.
I guess Ila’s never met Arkady and Naomi’s little siblings before.
There ARE little versions….
Well, yeah, she’s only been in the group for, what, a few weeks? A week? Not sure how much time has gone down exactly. It’s certainly been a few days at least. Most of that time has been one of the sorts of interesting that you don’t really want the little ones around.
A friend refers to her first child as “the experimental model,” so Ila’s perspective may not be as confused as one might think.
Nonetheless, it does seem like the sort of thing that Ila’s big brother might take a few minutes to explain at *some* point or, failing that, one of Ila’s friends.
I thought Arkady’s cake ploy was brilliant!
