So, there’s good news and bad news. The bad news is that we are back at half pages for awhile, the good news is that we have a week worth of buffer – 2 whole comics! For the time being I am going to run Patreon at a one week buffer, and we’ll see how that goes.
I know these have been long and full of complaining, so I’ll keep this one short. I will unlock the wiki on Monday, but we are still seeing a lot of spam both here and there, so I don’t know if that’ll take. I’m working on some stuff, we’ll see what makes it down the pipeline.
Aside from the amusement factor of him going “So what’s so critical anyway?” with every topic…
…..that last little bit seems to….complicate matters, a little bit, considering the previous page…
(PS: Consul, there’s probably a lot of things you wouldn’t consider trivial that he’d probably consider about as important as a crossword puzzle. If it’s not pissing you off, it’s probably part of his charm.)
Wiki editing/account creation is unlocked again… we’ll see how this goes. Hopefully the spambots have moved back off to the slime pits from whence them came.
Panel 6, second speech bubble. Equivalent only has one i in it.
You do realize that your half pages have more in them then most webcomics’ full pages, right? It may not finish the “thought” that you have for the page but most who use this basic format spread that “point” across as many as 3 or 5 pages without having any sort of definite drawing together of that single “idea”.
So yeah, I know I’ve said it before, but don’t be so hard on yourself.
To be a bit more precise than Ender, this particular update is about double what most of the comics I read will do for an update.
The fact that I have caught up on transcripts has less to do with the size of your updates, and more to do with the fact that I’ve gotten my new laptop configured to the point where I can use it to do transcript updates. Of course, it still needs a lot more configuration, but it’s getting there.
That’s been my thought process as well.
What Past is offering as a half ration would be a double comic elsewhere. Both from a art content as well as from a plot development standpoint.
You know, it just came to mind seeing this….
….maybe instead of a “half” page, it’s just a sideways page. Instead of 3ish panels tall and 2ish panels wide, it’s 2ish by 3ish.
There’s that. But there’s also 9 total panels, with approximately the same quantity of dialog as most any other 9 panel stretch by another author. But most other authors dole out 3, maybe 4 panels at a time.
Now. I’m NOT suggesting that one way is right and the other wrong. I like PastUtopia better than anything else I’m reading, save maybe Dilbert. Scott Adams may have his issues, but he draws a mean comic. PHB, you know?
All I’m saying is that there is an inherent risk in comparing yourself to someone else. Those others may update M-F. But content wise they might not put out in a week what our guy cranks out on Monday.
Different authors have different styles (which can take different amounts of time), different amounts of business with things other than what they’re writing, and sometimes pages just don’t need that much on them.
I mean heck, we had a dialogue-less page not that long ago, but loads could be taken from it. And I’m sure comparisons to other comics could be made, but….they’re different. Rejoice, despair…..the art does not care. (If the art’s talking back, I’m clearly in the best-lit horror game ever, and might even be able to survive long enough die in a not horrible way.)
It’s not like comparing apples and oranges, as you can eat one instead of the other. You can enjoy more than one comic at a time. It’s more like ketchup and mustard. You can be of the opinion that you want one, the other, or neither, but both is also a valid option. (You can also be of the opinion that you’ll take one if it’s given but you’re not a huge fan. But as it’s a comic and not a condiment, you’ve gone out of your way to be here….why?)
Thank you for the effort – the spam bots are a royal pain, so if you have to yield to them for lack of time, it will not be shocking.
Might check among your fanbase to see if somebody wants to play admin on the Wiki. (Not me!)
And the Consul really wants to engage Peter in meaningful *personal* conversation, but there’s this crisis in the way.
She is a fun and fascinating character.
I do believe it sounds like Madame Council wants to precipitate the crisis which she is realized that Peter is adept at doing. I don’t know if she’s asking him to be the Fall Guy or if she’s asking him if he thinks IDS will decide to join The Fray
I think she’s asking him if he will help to keep them out.
Yup. Just trying to make sure the IDS doesn’t interfere with local politics.
Or perhaps asking if they will, but I suspect Mium has already provided her with that projection upon request.
