Comic for Monday, April 3rd

You know, Mir, a few people have accused you of something similar…
Anyway, short commentary cause this one’s already late and each second I spend typing this is a second that it’s published!
Was a super busy week last week, so everything sort of got shoved around. Hopefully it’ll get better this week – I especially need to finish wrapping up Minus Years (I’ve had page 8 almost done for like a week now) and do some other Patreon art; that’s a priority second only to keeping the comic updating, but unfortunately comic time has been tight recently.
Still life marches on and hopefully soon it marches toward the pastures of free time and comic drawing for all.
“Where is this Martin and why am I not talking to him?”
Turn all of their research data into a series of essays. It’ll be a quicker read. And safer. (Less…classified. By who? Hmm. Good question. Should add that to someone’s to-do list.) Not sure on more comprehendable, though. Depends on how much they insist on using “correct terminology”.
Actually, with all the waffling back and forth on if Peter is Martin or not, and the potential theories about it, if Peter isn’t Martin, I’d say he’s probably the “assistant who betrayed him”.
and iiiiimmmm baaaaaaack
wow thats a lot to catch up on.
hmm ryn… i know research is a black hole you throw money into hoping to get something worthwile out of it… sometime. but i would have to say you have atleast 1 scapegoat there. maybe 2. i would reserve judgement on…lead reasearcher a. but m.i.r. needs to be brought to heel. say a very remote weather station or something.
Welcome back!
I think sending Mir to a remote arctic research station is how a horror game backstory is made… š
4th panel first bubble: possibly change to “took shortcuts” it reads outloud better with only the second part having the ‘dangerous’.
I would trust a scientist to not be redundant.
Probably right. I will try to fix that at some point. I will edit this comment when I do so I don’t look crazy š thanks!
This is a lot of theory connecting, which is some of the better exposition we can get at this point. From what I am reading here, nothing is particularly new, but more clues on a lot of things.
The “ark”: my best guess is that this is salvaged Kor world ship. We know they have a tendency to fly around in gigantic invisible airships (or even spaceships, all we know is they a way up there and armed with some sort of hyper-velocity railgun from when they tried to off Mium. I’ve speculated before that Avon is salvaging Kor world tech somehow. This would explain why Peter was involved in their affairs – if they were just riffing off the IDS stuff, that wouldn’t be of interest to Peter.
Martin: I still don’t think Martin is Peter, and this introduces the concept that he “several” assistants, one of which betrayed him. That could easily be Mir or Peter. Mir clearly knows Peter, so if he’s not Martin, he has to be someone else from that lab. It is still possible he is Martin, but the timeline is troublesome, and for all his scheming and hacking, mad science does not seem to be one of his shown skills.
Ryn: Ryn is sort of like the third parallel protagonist (fourth if we count Kally, fifth if we count Arron). The first two are of course Peter and Tyler. Ryn is sort of Peter’s foil. While Peter is the misanthropic puppetmaster, Ryn is the charismatic figurehead (though Peter lack of social skills seems largely an inability to stop being an asshole more than lack of charisma at this point).
First panel: “I am going to [be] taking over.
Fourth panel: “I can believe I could” ? Maybe: I believe I could
Fixed (I think), thanks!
 Hello?! The pot is calling the kettle black. It is Mir who is the hypocrite here. She’s the one who lacks the talent to produce something entirely original, so she bases her stuff on Martin’s work.
Granted, you’re supposed to try using honey before trying the vinegar approach. However, it seems like these two are not cooperating. And it’s not like Ryn is asking much of them.
Ryn needs to learn that, sometimes, he WILL need to put his foot down and flex some of his authority. He can threaten to cut their budget or even shut them down if they can’t provide him with the information he requested. And responses like “you’re ignorant” or “not my problem” are not really answers. That is what’s called ‘evading the question’ and doing so in a snarky and disrespectful manner.
If nothing else, he could point out that they could spare one of their underlings to type up a brief summary of the projects their working on and what they’ve managed to learn or accomplish since the projects’ inception.
As for Martin’s disappearance, he should say that he will make it their problem if he doesn’t get answers. They need to ask everyone in their departments to come forward if they have any information. If he does not find out what happened to Martin, then he should threaten to launch an internal investigation and THAT might interfere with their projects.
I don’t think introspection is among Mir’s strong suits… š
I’m not sure it’s been demonstrated yet that she has any strong suits, has it?
