Comic for Friday, September 4th
Sep04
You’ve all be very generous with voting this month; I saw the comic as high as #140! (though the list is a little volatile this early 😀 ); still I appreciate the support, so I drew a new vote incentive, see it here! Features Mione and Amy, otherwise known as the Tyler’s primary minions (by Tyler, anyway).
Appreciate the feedback that people sent on the the little CYOA game; I’ll let you know if it gets updated/next section completed.
I should probably point out that strictly speaking Cao isn’t Tyler’s boss, though he is generally expected to work with him. Technically Tyler’s boss is the Consul of Malsa, and we haven’t met her yet.
Yes, eat your delicious bait. Don’t let the fish hog it all
From the vote incentive, I think I recognize Amy in the background… I like the version of ‘shadows’ with colored hair, at least it gives clues ^^
I look forward to Tyler’s sales pitch. Will Naomi be on board or will this be too far? She seemed fairly pro Tyler last time, but wasn’t so happy about him poking into her business previously…
Yeah; I like the idea behind the shadows as it makes it so I don’t have to choose between weird ghost towns and spending a long time on a panel, but I’m working out a balance between making it so you can recognize characters in the background, and the weirdness I feel comes from having a main character drawn standing next to someone that isn’t drawn.
I think you’ve hit the nail on the head on the Naomi issue; she’s fairly pro MSB (since she knows some of the people involved) but she’s pretty anti people poking into her business (or impeding her quest to save the world, of course).
Tyler is extremely quick-witted. He may or may not be Peter’s equal at scheming, but he’s going to keep Peter on his toes. ^^
I’m loving Tyler’s upturned-collar trenchcoat. Do you suppose Mium would go for an upgrade to his ruined scarf? If he tied the sleeves under his chin, it would look a lot like a cape. 😀
Tyler is intended to be more reasonable and charismatic; but his plots lack the bizarre depth and seeming precognitive nature of Peter’s plans.
We the readers know that Peter’s plans are far more failable than they seem, but that he runs through a huge number of contingency plans; the plans tend be very hard to completely break out of – you always just fall into the next contingency down; an almost brute force analytical approach (made possible by having Miko and an AI backing him).
Maybe if Tyler succeeds in recruiting them, they’ll get their own? They seem to be MSB issue as we’ve seen the other members wear them occasionally (though graphics have evolved since last time we saw them, they are the same coat :D). I’m working on outfits coming up 😉
Clothes are the next big target for graphical improvement. Clothes and mouths.
Ever heard of a Xanatos Gambit? Be warned, the link below leads to tvtropes, Devourer of Free Time.

Although I think Peter is doing Xanatos Speed Chess…
Haha 😀 I think Peter would like to think his running a Xanatos Gambit anyway; whether or not he is I suppose remains to be seem.
I browsed TV Tropes a bit back when I was linked to my own page on it; I added a few things for fun as browsed around, it’s a pretty interesting site. I think it’s responsible for a new, more dangerous, breed of genre savvy readers… 😉
