Comic for Monday, June 5th
Well, some of you probably guessed what was going on…
Yes… the consul is sort of special. Sometimes I regret we haven’t seen her more, but most of the characters are sort of grateful we don’t… The story of the post-Aristocracy Malsa is probably a whole story on it’s own though… 🙂
I’ve puzzled before on if I was going to use miles or meters (kilometers in this guess) but, realistically, it’s probably some measurement that’s been translated for reader convenience, and I figure more readers probably know miles than kilometer as an easy reference of distance.
If you haven’t seen the latest sketchbook entry, you can see it here. Yes… it is a picture of Naomi. No, you’re not surprised? Huh…
Poll will end on Wednesday, btw, if you haven’t voted and if you have any opinion on such things.
I suspect the IDS didn’t realize portal issue was quite so expansive or at least was something they’d rather have not be revealed.
Beyond that its possible interdepartmental rivalries within the IDS might have lead to some of this information being hidden even from other parts of the IDS.
“Highest possible confidentiality”? No, it’s only the second highest possible, or else he wouldn’t have told them about it.
“Highest possible confidentiality” probably means “don’t tell the press, directly or indirectly, that you know or how you know – you know, like Bush (Osama’s phone) or Trump (various)”.
Let us see.
Biana is clearly horrified. I doubt she knew that Peter could do something like this, let alone turn it over to the Malsans.
Business Adviser looks tired. He knows this means trouble.
The Consul is happy. Clearly a giant middle finger to the IDS has been on her to do list for awhile.
Arron looks resigned and tired. Peter has just tossed gasoline on everything and started passed out flaming torches for juggling practice.
Ryn looks excited. This was probably in his spark notes for the meeting, which means he is in business. Whatever that is.
Sophie looks like she just realized this is serious.
??? 1 Looks confused and worried.
??? 2, I think this might be the Resh ambassador. Calculating. I can not guess what the Resh role in this is yet (if he is even Resh).
My guess is that the last mystery guy is the Resh ambassador, mainly because of his suit as his collar seems to be from the outer coat. The look on his face seems to be intense political scrutiny. Seems like he’s reevaluating his role in what the IDS was planning for them.
The secret’s almost out of the bottle. Now everyone involved is going to be looking to perform damage control.
Also, if the smuggling is important, then there is likely going to be a need to shut that down. Its capabilities might give them a rough idea of how it works as well, meaning they might be able to do so remotely.
To stop this: Remove Peter, patch the security holes.
That oh **** look says someone knows what’s coming. I can’t read what Arron’s doing that well, but it looks like he’s face palming. The only question is if he’s going to take the blame for someone who’s straight up threatened one of his subordinates, or throw her under the bus. Actually, we all know that’s not really a question.
I think Arron’s face is the face of someone aging another ten years. With this I get the feeling that Peter has sort of crossed the line. The implied threat of Peter was that he could be a major leak of information, and he had been doing just that. But now Peter has just shrugged and given them the hose.
Biana wanted to kill Peter for likely leaking some gate locations. But this? This means that the IDS is not in control anymore.
More than that, it means an outside agency now has the ability to see, and prove, that certain members of IDS are not doing their jobs (since, you know, they’re supposed to be policing those portals)
“Oh shit” look? It’s not just a look, you can see him saying “<sh"
“No Pressure” = “You’re a sitting duck.”
