Comic for Monday, January 26th
Not too much to say on this panel. The art is a little rough – I’m trying to crack down a little on spelling/grammar errors, from this page forward the pages will at least be spell checked in their final typeset form (previously I was typesetting in photoshop rather than pasting from a word document for the final dialogue of the page).
I got a few reviews on the comic – they pretty much slammed, but that’s okay. It made it a little bit harder to work on for a bit, but at the end of the day I write this for fun and to get better at art, so…
Still, there was some valid points. I will be working to change the layout of pages in particular. I’ve sort of been operating on this 3 by 3 grid, but there isn’t really much point in sticking to that religiously. Also, I think I need to push a little harder on the art – while I do limit the time I spend per page, more I will sacrifice number of panels for more detailed or better panels.
I just picked you up last week via TWC; I’m catching up in bursts and must say that the comic is a pleasure as it is. I read over 80[0] comics and this is, so far, as enjoyable as the others.
[0] starting with xkcd ages ago, along with Rusty and Co. and adding them a bit at a time.
Hey, always happy to hear that new people have picked it up. As far as “so far”, well, at least I am pretty sure the art gets better.
Plus, it’s always good to hear where people find it. I think with Project Wonderful advertising shutting down, there are probably less new entry points. The TWC ad is not super successful in terms of click count, but if it picks up even a few new readers I guess its worth it to me ๐
There are a couple of other readers that (best I can tell) reader a staggering amount of comics, maybe you’ll recognize them in the comments as time goes on ๐ – way way back I used to read a fair number of comics, but I haven’t kept up with any in years.
A computer game can be an excellent game without having to look like Witcher 3 or Prey, if the story and play are good.
A comic can be good without having photorealistic artwork if the story is good, or the jokes.
Your art will improve over time. Everyone’s does. Dont get too fancy with story too fast, or involve too many characters, or yoy and we will have trouble keeping things straight.
Hey just wanted to say that I like this comic since you said that you got some reviews and they were not good thought I should speak up.
Lot of comics don’t have super great art if you go to the start. My 2cents is draw more backgrounds even if they are super simple or figure out how to do them with cg like a lot of comics do I think. Anyhow pls keep posting cause I want to see what is going on.
Hi – It’s kind of scary to see a comment from an actual reader, wasn’t aware I had any of those…
Anyway, thank you for the words – I will definitely continue updating.
