He must be back on Central again. They’ve been having issues with that dome for a while.
Definitely it isn’t southern California, where the electrical grid is so exceptionally stable that they’re converting to 100% electric cars in the near future.
Thanks for the links providing few hours of a trip down memory lane. Among other things, our cute little homicidal maniac ILA performing a bank shot taking out several bad men with guns was inspiring. Naomi fighting a Kor’s robot. Kor’s soldier showing up. Peter convincing people to protect the school with a Fortress shield. Kor’s using HMV to attack one of the Miums. And more. Lots of entertaining action.
I personally think that the rat is the Mium who accompanied Arron Kepler when he left Central https://pastutopia.com/comic/comic-for-monday-february-21st-2022/ . The Miums changed places at that time with the one that accompanied Arron bumping the one who rescued Tyler Weber on to Palindra while he remained in the world between worlds or whatever it is.
Per the author comment on the update you linked, I got the sense that F8 (scarf) remained on Central, rather than Mium simply stranding F8 (scarf) instead of F5 (no scarf).
Of course, we didn’t *see* that, and haven’t seen F8 (scarf) since then, so you could be right. Changing which one was stranded seems like a possibly odd move, but it’s possible that F8 somehow prepared for the lossy environment in some way or was already different in a way that made it less dangerous over time.
I’m going to guess Nathan, simply because it makes *no* sense. Or maybe Tom, because that makes even less sense.
Kor’s World destroyed Central before the events of the comic (sometimes referred to ‘the Incursion’). Opinions of characters vary if the just left after destroying it or if they were finally driven out, but we know they suffered at least some loses.
I think what they are saying there is that if the data is taken to Central, they probably will not have a chance to get it easily, since they do not have a presence on Central anymore, and the forces of Central can actually fight back against them.
While Central and the IDS is wildly ineffective at dealing with Peter, that is because he has access to literally all of their relevant internal information and has significant support from Central diffusing any real attempt to track him down (Kyle is at least willing to throw wrenches in any plan to track him down, Arron is not particularly interested in taking it seriously, Nathan is not at all interested in doing it, and Kally straight up defected to his side practically at the first chance she got).
Against something like Kor’s World where the IDS was unified, it would probably be effective enough that even a powerful force would have to take it seriously. It seems that Central went all in on preparing for round two with Kor’s World, so if Kor’s World has to do an Incursion Mark 2 it will probably be a lot bloodier for them the first one. That seems to be the justification for people like Sophie existing (“yes, she is basically a demon-summoning-psychopath, but we might need a demon-summoning-psychopath in the future”).
All that is to say Kor’s World probably has good reason to be at least cautious of Central.
I think we saw a face waaay back when Kor’s world first attacked Levinsworth, but this seems to be the first time we’ve seen one of these guys entirely out of the red shell.
Also, feels like something obvious to point out, but, hat-Kor looks very artificial at the face. I wonder how much of their structure is run by AIs like Mium.
comic-for-monday-october-5th and comic-for-wednesday-october-7th. The art has changed drastically since then. Though I wonder if the difference in the face is actually meant to convey something about who we’re seeing here, rather than changing what the Kor’s World people look like.
I think it is the person here is different. The way he talks is also distinctive compared to the other Kor’s World individuals that talk more naturally.
I was not intending to suggest that the Kor’s World minion, who was sent on a data gathering mission, was the same as this Kor’s World person. I was instead wondering if they were qualitatively different in a significant manner. Could this be the Kryten of Kor’s World? Would that mean there’s a Lister of Kor’s World also?
Kally’s opening salvo looks a lot like what Ila used, a long time ago. While the art style has changed, it seems like distinctly the same power. Not really important, just thought it was interesting (recently reread the early section, so it is the first thing I noticed).
It is hard to tell with him wearing a hat, but the Kor’s World lackey seems to have white hair. I am not sure this is indicative of anything (since he does not look entirely human), but so far Mium and Ila were the only ones with white hair. This might be another sign indicating that the prototypes are made using stolen Kor’s World technology if there is some link (just speculation at the moment though).
Fluffy has manifested with green eyes. This might be the first time he has gone directly to his most ‘real’ state. My guess is that is either because the plane they are in, or because Kally is taking Kor’s World seriously.
Some speculation:
I am assuming Peter is the ‘rat’ that snuck onto their ship, since he came all this way, but did not stick around for the fighting part.
In that case, Kor’s World soldier seems to have the correct assumption. Kally was probably not attacking at full power as she does not want to destroy the ship (assuming Peter is on it somehow).
I’m going to put in a dissenting opinion and say that it is Miko who snuck onboard in order to force MIUM’s hand against the Kor’s ship. She has the power and knowledge to get onboard, unlike most of the other groups, and actually getting next to Peter wouldn’t do anything to destroy the enemy; all it would do is promote forcing Peter away from the action, leaving him in potential danger. Furthermore she specifically mentioned in the last page that she wanted to “destroy” Kor’s World and her speaking of her decision to go visit Peter had MIUM asking her about her “pointless lie”. Visiting the ship directly would both draw attention away from Peter, protecting him, and force MIUM to be more proactive against Kor’s World. Besides, Peter has been reported to react to Kor’s World appearances by “running away”, and sneaking into the ship is the exact opposite of that.
As for Kally holding back as to not hurt Peter: either she knows he is sneaking in so she would also know where he is going in the ship, therefore she can aim elsewhere; or she doesn’t know his plan, at which she has no reason to not attack for his sake. At best she is likely either testing the defenses with something weaker to see how it magically reacts, or holding back to recover a more complete skycarrier.
atter is dead. i can pull the page number i think…it was on tues, may 8th 2019. there is a large comment thread about if atter is dead or not. i believe consensus was, he is down for the count, untill Sophie can likely perform some sort of complicated summoning ritual, and he will likely have lost a lot of memories. i don’t entirely remember, but didn’t sophie go back to central too? it seems most of the time writing to edos can only be done at a relatively short range, and not across worlds. so atter would have to be in central too. also, he appears to require some sort of host body, and im not too sure Sophie will be able to find a living one for him. i suspect they have her closely guarded. i feel it is more likely that some spirit beast of nightmarish proportions will show up. or if atter, it will be his “final form”, and not some bound fleshy thing. im not entirely sure how his anchor with Sophie works tbh. my college didn’t have a M.U.E program, or M.T.T either. i would have jumped at the opportunity back then, even just to better understand this universe and comment better.
I think the consensus was that Atter wasn’t down permanently because he was “anchored” by Sophie. As for finding a body, a random nobody dead soldier was good enough, so there is no reason why he can’t find some other dead body or capture a 7-11 worker and take theirs. And, while Sophie was mentioned as being important for “anchoring”, she didn’t have to do anything or be anywhere near the battlefield where Atter was; therfore her being locked up wouldn’t change Atter’s ability to reincarnate and be a pain.
That said, I don’t think that Atter broke onto the ship. I think he is still in the real world (as shown by the flashback) regrouping from his loss. I think it is more likely that the ones who broke onboard were the Webber and Naomi group or even Nathan because at least they have a good reason to want to be onboard along with the hubris to believe they can survive it.
I think Red Armor will take Kally much more seriously now that Fluffy has appeared….
There will be a page this week, but it’s going to be a little delayed probably. On the 3rd power outage tonight so giving up working on it for now.
3 Power Outages?! did Fluffy chew on the Power lines again or something?! but seriously though, hope you’ll get through this mess.
He must be back on Central again. They’ve been having issues with that dome for a while.
Definitely it isn’t southern California, where the electrical grid is so exceptionally stable that they’re converting to 100% electric cars in the near future.
It is possible that Past sneeked onto the Kor’s carrier and Kally’s hits are disrupting power.
Past, Real life interferes with the comic again. 🙁
I hope you have a generator to keep your freezer and refrigerator running. Good luck.
I hope Kally will spindle their boat.
Also I’ve never made this connection before… does Kally = Kali?
It sure would explain a lot.
Following the links to “what Ila used, a long time ago” has me rereading old comics!! Not sure whether to say thanks or ARGH.
Here’s how it went for me.
ARRGGHH!!!!!
… but …

Just to be clear, I know it’s Mika, per her decision to get “closer to Peter” but clearly wanting Mium to take more direct action than she can order.
But I’m still guessing Tom, because it’s fun. So it’s Tom, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 😉
You have convinced me. It must be Tom. He carries a crowbar around for goodness sake, what better tool is there for breaking and entering?
Panel 1 last bubble shows Kor’s World is perhaps afraid of Central and/or Malsa for some reason.

other than the angular facial structure this guy looks a lot like Aaron Kepler. also is the first time we have seen a Korian without a hard shell?

We haven’t seen Atter for a while, and he’s an excellent wild card option.

He showed up after that on a comic with a bunch of slices of different characters.

A fluffy urge, at that.
ok Fluffy, chow time!
Maybe this will be the first time that Fluffy asks “Can I eat them?” and Kally replies “Yes”
