I’ve never been fond of showing two characters thought bubbles on the same page, I do it occasionally but generally try not to. This is the reason we don’t see Naomi’s 6th panel thought bubble to avoid see-sawing between them, but I imagine it’s something like “yay smash ball fun fun” πŸ˜‰

I continue to screw around with how I draw the magic effects. I warned you we’d probably never get to a point where I was happy with them. In some ways I miss the blue ring element I’ve been using so long but it doesn’t really mesh with the newer effects. There is still further consideration.

And no, I didn’t get a reference image for ‘hazed out’ perspective by looking at a bright light for a few seconds. That would be stupid. Of course I wouldn’t do that. 😐

Someone recently emailed me with an interesting theory about the magic effects weren’t ‘real’ and just perceptions, and how that’s why they cast no lighting effects on objects and people. I was very appreciative of the distance they went to cover for the fact that I can’t draw very well. πŸ˜€

Friday will have a comic, but bear with me if it goes up a little late. I’d expect Friday afternoon, but you never know, things may go well.

I hope the green thought bubble is fairly obvious; when associating colors to characters that are less… chromatically thematic?… then Naomi I had to consider more, but I figured Kally would be either Red or Green, but that Green would be more obvious here (since she’s not wearing the red shirt that we’ve seen her wear previously or in most of her artwork), and or seeing her Ethereal Object Magic – in fact the barrier she made was blue, like all the others we’ve seen. I debated that, but when I flipped way way back the last time she’d down that it was also blue, so stuck with it this time.

I’ll leave why she doesn’t have her trump card(s) or what it would be to your Β speculation, but gonna go with it has something to do with the rules of the game no matter how loosely you are reading ’em πŸ˜‰
