Comic for Wednesday, August 19th
Hmmm. I basically just used the vertical format as an excuse to tack two pages together and call it a day didn’t I? I don’t think I’m very good at this… 😐
The comic sort of just grows to fill the empty space. Osmosis and stuff.
When I was starting the first arc dealing with Avon I strongly considered cutting Ryn, but in the end I decided I couldn’t have Avon without Ryn, but it’s hard to have him around because the spotlight always wants to head over and in that direction and see what he’s been up to. He’s too awesome for just a minor character role. So far we’ve been keeping it more or less on track, such as I ever keep anything in this comic on track… 😉
I think Ryn’s problem is he just doesn’t quite seem to understand what sort of comic he’s living in. He just sort of refuses to acknowledge that he’s in an action/fantasy/sci-fi comic and should probably pay attention to all the weirdness around him.
I’m not sure if it’s canon that Avon has better holographic communication technology than the IDS and MSB, or if we just going to pretend they are equivalent as I couldn’t draw for shit last time I had to draw a holograph. Pretty sure we just going to ignore it…
The backgrounds are more drawn, but sloppier. This is sort of a trade off I think we see frequently in the comic. The longer I spend doing the ‘pencil’ work the more stuff there is in panel and the more details we get, but the less time there is for clean inking. I think since in general the inking and coloring steps have been subpar recently anyway it’s probably worth moving the scale back toward more stuff, idk. Maybe someday I will actually learn to draw and we won’t worry about. I have to say, while I don’t always have as much time as I’d like to put into drawing, learning to draw has taken longer than I hoped.
We are almost to Chapter 5… the pieces are set up for it!
